FilthyBeast Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 I've said this many times before, but any hopes the Bills have of getting to the SB is getting the #1 seed and homefield throughout. Because we already saw the end result playing in TEN and they aren't beating them or a similar team like BAL on the road assuming they get back to the playoffs in the first place. 1 Quote
billybrew1 Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 Yes. It really is. I can't see the Bills going to the show if they don't get that bye..... imho anyhoo.... Go Bills! Quote
JaCrispy Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 If we are gonna get it, it’s a big deal... If we are not gonna get it, it’s not a big deal...😉 1 Quote
Reks Ryan Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 Yea #1 seed is more important than ever. Equivalent to a playoff win. Plus home field advantage, plus bye week to rest and heal after a long season Quote
Bruce Smith Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 How big is it? If TN gets it Derrick Henry comes back with a full head of steam. Week ten of his recovery is January 9th which is week 17. The playoffs for him would start two weeks later and give him 12 weeks post surgery. If TN gets him back and has home field with that front four they are gonna be a tough out. Quote
Bruce Smith Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 NY Times Playoff Simulator puts the odds of a Titans #1 seed at 66% with a win over New Orleans this weekend. That is how big a lead they have. Their schedule was front loaded hard when Henry was killing people. Quote
SlimShady'sSpaceForce Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 Just because this hasn’t been the case for a few seasons doesn’t mean that their isn’t a benefit Quote
Big Blitz Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 Kamara is out. Tennessee v New Orleans no Kamara no Henry. Just what you were hoping for when you bought tickets to that game.... Quote
CincyBillsFan Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 It wasn't very important for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season. Hell, home field really didn't matter for them either. IF the Bill's catch fire and finish say 13 - 4 or 12 - 5 and lock up the 2nd seed that will mean two home games and a road trip for the championship game - just like last season. Wasn't it as recently as 2019 that the Ravens had the bye and home field advantage and lost their first game of the layoffs? Quote
SlimShady'sSpaceForce Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 The wild card Giants beat the 18-0 Cheatriots 😎 IIRC Quote

Home field, bye ... uh yeah it is a big deal. Come on man. Quote
Max Fischer Posted November 13, 2021 Posted November 13, 2021 More important than ever. Let’s not try to rationalize it. Quote

Doc Brown Posted November 13, 2021 Posted November 13, 2021 (edited) Of course it is. Only having to win two in a row to get to the Super Bowl, a week of rest to heal from injuries, and home field advantage puts you in the driver seat I mean only seven teams that played in the Wild Card round have won the Super Bowl in the last 50 years. Having said that, that number obviously will go up (the Bucs won last year) in the new format. Edited November 13, 2021 by Doc Brown Quote

I had to get away from this board for a few days with the sky is falling, but yes of course it’s a big deal. Everyone gets a week off, the Bills coaching staff gets to scout the playoff teams the week before, and homefield throughout. How is that not important? The team can go into a bye with momentum with the starters playing a good portion of the season finale, but the banged up ones get two weeks off. I don’t understand how it’s even brought up as it’s common sense. Every team wants the first seed. Quote

WyoAZBillfan Posted November 13, 2021 Posted November 13, 2021 More than ever. Longer season, get that bye week to heal/rest and game plan. Plus home crowd gets another home game or two. Quote
