whorlnut Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 Yes it’s a big deal. Absolutely. However, this thread wouldn’t exist if it was a possibility for this team at this point. It seems OP is trying to feel better about things. Haha 1 Quote

corta765 Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 So getting the #1 seed is a big deal because the at least 1 of the #1 seeds has made the Super Bowl over the last decade. So statistically you are giving yourself a 50% chance at the big game. Currently the #1 seed is not a big deal for two reasons: 1. The AFC is straight whack right now. Take a look at the standings and your guess at how it ends up is as good as anyones as many of the teams have to play each other so attrition is coming to teams like Baltimore and the Chargers. The Titans have the easiest path but at some point they will struggle a bit and lose 2 maybe 3 (Or they are your 1 seed). 2. The Bills loss against the Jags and Titans especially has taken them from the driver seat to being just one of many. Outside of the Bills winning out and being 14-3, if they are 13-4 or my guess 12-5 at seasons end they will have manyyyyy teams with the same record and it will come down to tiebreakers which I do not want to even have to think about as it hurts my head haha. The Chiefs were not playing particularly well in the second half of last season. Being in command of that #1 seed for the last month of the season and then getting a bye week allowed them to focus on playing their best game against the only real competition they had in the AFC..........Buffalo. Homefield would give the Bills the same chance this year. Having the only bye is huge. Playing 2 high-intensity playoff games going into the AFC title game really seemed to take a toll on the Bills. 2 Quote

Yep Havin that bye is huge…I think we could potentially win a road game or two assuming the jags loss was a complete fluke of course lol we def got robbed of a shootout in the afc championship last year by some interesting officiating…we likely still would’ve lost but I don’t think we played as flat as it appeared Quote
benderbender Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 Since we're all sour grapes about it now, no its not a big deal. I think that the off week would throw off the rhythm especially since our bye week was so early in the season. Hopefully the OL will remember how to block or we find the right combination and we'll hit our stride right as the playoffs start. Championship! Quote

Brianmoorman4jesus Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 Being at home in the playoffs never stopped mattering. This team has like 1 loss ever at home in the playoffs but almost never wins a road playoff game. Yes, it matters…a lot Quote
Big Blitz Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 (edited) Nope. It doesn't. Tampa won 3 road games last year. Cleveland beat themselves in KC. Just be healthy playing your best football those are the teams that can go on a run. Especially considering the data is flat out saying home field has not mattered this season. The doomers here just think if the Bills aren't 15-2 and the 1 then this season was a failure. Edited November 11, 2021 by Big Blitz Quote
JohnNord Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 It’s a guaranteed first round victory so I think that’s big. 1 Quote

Casey D Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 Tampa won three road games and the Super Bowl as a 5 seed. #1 seed is nice but guarantees nothing. KC had number #1 seed and got whupped. So if your real question is whether the #1 seed is essential, the answer is no. Quote

Herc11 Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 The #1 seed is more important this year, and going forward, than it ever has been with the new 17 game seasons. 1 Quote
EmotionallyUnstable Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 Absolutely the 1 sees is valuable. What doesn’t seem so important to me anymore is if you’re the 2, 3 or 4 seed. Quote
Steptide Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 I never cared about the 1 seed honestly. Always thought it was way too much of a focus with fans and media. Yes I want the bills to be the one seed, but if they're not, whatever Quote
