Define a lot more.  Last night he threw one deep pass and it was a floater INT.  Im not saying he cant.  I honestly don't know yet.  Im just saying he doesn't.

What do you consider a deep pass? For example he threw a couple nice 17 yard passes for completions, and that interception was a rookie mistake. (Which I expect)

Yeah that one pass was nice.  He laid it up perfect for his receiver to make a play.  Deep ball to me is 20+ air.  At some point he will have to stretch the field.

Just to be clear... I am not of the opinion that the kid is bad.  He is playing very well.  I just don't know if he can make those throws.  Because he hasn't, at least not very often, I question if he can.  Eventually your team will be behind against someone.  Can he bring them back with his arm when 5 yard passes won't cut it?  I know I mock but... Im a Bills fan.  At this point he isn't scary to me.

He shouldn’t scare you as a bills fan yet. You have the better QB right now no matter what.

also I don’t know how he would do in a comeback situation but he went toe to toe with the Cowboys and landed a few good deep passes. (Like a 50 yarder that went 75 for a TD)

Belichick has taken A TON of heat in the Boston media the two years prior for his personnel decisions.   At least the idiots could wait until the team actually stopped being competitive.   One fall off to 7-9 after a couple decades of dominating the division and he could do no right in their eyes.   Bills fans think the Buffalo media is critical.

I didn't say it was "a gouge".  I said "So why undercut those points with dramatic sounding incorrect gouge?"

Top definition here

I can't help your reading comprehension problems.  This is what I said:

There's nothing in there about how McDermott was a "big key" in Reid's success (that would be a strange take, given that Reid's teams were conference championship contenders long before McDermott became an assistant), nor did I say anything implying they made the playoffs because McD was the DC.   There's a huge amount of space between hiring a DC with no NFL defensive coaching experience, and having your former DC be "responsible" for your success.

It's also a crap discussion tactic to put quotation marks around something that was never said.

I'm not going to bother to try to explain my point further, because with the reading comprehension (or deliberate misrepresentation) issues who knows how that would get twisted?  I'll reiterate something I did previously say: "This kind of straw man is exactly why so many here hold back from engaging with you.  You genuinely know a lot about the Bills, and about football, and I respect that...but you sometimes appear far more interested in "poking the bear" or ***** stirring than in actually having the solid discussion of which you are capable."

You used the Urban Dictionary version of the word "gouge"?  You really think that the majority of people on this board know that the word gouge in ghetto slang means "insight"?  Most people think it means "to take a chunk out of something".

As for the rest..........you painted a picture that just wasn't accurate.    Why did it matter that the Eagles had made the playoffs "3 straight years" when McD was fired?   They'd been to 5 NFC Championship games under Reid in the decade prior.........all before McDermott was his DC.......and they were unceremoniously knocked out of the playoffs in the WC round in the two seasons he was the DC.

Nobody takes being pointed out to be wrong worse than you on this board.  Instant red head.   Now I know why you want to be a mod.

They are definitely coming... In 2 weeks, and will be leaving losers.

Man, I hope so.

If we don't at least split w/ them this year, it will be a trying situation for me.  Could be good for gummy & beer sales, though.

If one does not understand what someone means by something, one can always ask for clarification.  In this case, I think the meaning was clear by context. It's not "ghetto slang", by the way.  It's a small point, and focusing there does not address my main point -

You attributed to me conclusions not justified by what I actually wrote.  I think in context it's clear why the Eagles making the playoffs is relevant to what I said - it shows they were a talented team accustomed to recent winning, before (among other changes) Reid chose to hire an OL coach as his DC and they wound up 8-8 (despite an all-pro season from McCoy and career high YPG from Vick) then 4-12, with Reid fired.

As for the bolded, I must recognize you a far superior talent in this regard.   Absent actual information (such as why/how I became a mod) you are endlessly creative at fabricating stuff you can use as sneers and personal attacks, and apparently unconcerned for any effect this practice might have on your overall credibility.

C'est la Vie.  I'm done here.

He did against Dallas. I think he showed something there. Down 5 just over two minutes left he hit the deep ball for a touchdown. Okay they ended up losing in OT but it was an example of him not just dinking and dunking. His overall passing air yards per attempt at the moment is above Mahomes and just below Rodgers and Allen. You can make a living in the NFL being an intermediate passer in any event.

My concern with Mac long term is less can he go over the top. It is more can he fit those balls in to the real tight windows in the redzone when you do need that bit of extra arm. People think arm strength is about throwing deep, but it's really not. It is about tight windows. There is a reason Josh Allen has zero redzone picks.

Yes, I know about arm strength and it not being about just the deep ball.  Also yes he showed a little more in Dallas.  I did not see that game but I guess I am more getting at not can you win it at the end but can he win a game where they are behind enough that the run game goes bye bye for two quarters.  Looking at the play by play they werent really behind until late.  They actually had the lead to start. Mac still only threw 21 passes that game.

And that is a fair question. I think the answer would be - not with these weapons. Not sure how many Quarterbacks could with Agholor, Bourne, Harry and Myers, it would be a small number for sure. The Pats would need to elevate the talent around him for that.

The other point is even if he plays there for 5 years (i.e. the rest of Bill's career) how many times is a Belichick team with a Belichick defense actually going to be behind so big that the run game is out of the window the whole 2nd half? Won't be many.

I'd be surprised if Mac Jones wins a Superbowl for New England. But I think while they have him and Bill they are a perennial playoff contender again. Doesn't mean they will make it every year but they will always be in the 8-10 win territory.

They will win the AFC east, no real weaknesses. The Bills have the better QB, but this is a team game. The offensive line is beyond terrible and we will get exploited because of it. Hope I'm wrong.

Their lack of offensive weapons is a real weakness. Even if Mac Jones had less limitations they would have trouble moving the ball through the air consistently. They weren't able to do it even in Brady's last year. They are hiding that flaw with a good running game and very good defense. As Bills fans we know as well as anyone that you can't hide a middling passing offense forever. And they have basically no upside there. For teams like the Bills and Chiefs the passing offense hasn't been elite this year but you know any week it could all come together and explode. The Pats are stuck with what they have. I would compare them to the 2017 Bills. With good coaching and game planning we drew better teams into a dogfight they didn't expect; this formula managed to sneak us into the playoffs but ultimately we were never a real contender.

The longest pass charted in the Cowboys game is 30 yds, just FYI.  There's nothing wrong with that, just a fact.

Patriots D are playing scary good. One of the best this year. Watched breakdown Falcons game. noone getting open. They play smart in coverage.

As noted, their front 7 will give us absolute fits; they D is just as good as ours right now.

These are going to be 2 very tough games; tougher than I thought after the first few weeks of the season.

It's a good example of how things constantly change over the course of a long season and most teams don't remain stagnant...unless you're the JETS and just suck all the time.

LOL
