Hence the basis for the NFL policy - but also the reason vaxxed Davante Adams missed a game, he didn't meet the 2 neg tests 24 hrs apart in time to join the team.

The vacced / unvacced difference is relevant to close contacts I believe. Explained here. https://www.profootballnetwork.com/how-the-nfls-covid-19-rules-are-different-for-vaccinated-and-unvaccinated-players/ Vaccinated: Upon a positive COVID-19 test, a player can return if: 1) He has two negative PCR tests taken at least 24 hours apart, and 2) He is asymptomatic for 48 hours. Unvaccinated: Minimum 10-day quarantine after a positive COVID-19 test. So if Rodgers tested positive yesterday and were vaccinated, all he would need is a negative test and no symptoms Thursday and Friday (or even Friday and Saturday if they can work out the travel arrangements) and he'd be Good to Go. 3 hours ago, Gene1973 said: This is correct. If he was a close contact and vaxed, it's 2 neg tests in a 24 hour period iirc. But close contact and unvaxed, 5 days. No, this is incorrect, see above. There is a difference in protocol for positive covid tests, based on data about how viral titer behaves. 3 hours ago, BillsFan4 said: So was Rodgers straight up lying in the offseason then when he said he was vaccinated? https://www.cbs58.com/news/aaron-rodgers-announces-hes-been-vaccinated-but-not-going-to-judge-teammates-who-arent He was playing word games. He got some alternative treatment he petitioned the NFL to recognize and the NFL's medical officers said "Ah, No." It does make me wonder if they've recognized anything else, for example being vaccinated with an inactivated virus vaccine that is approved in other countries but not in US. 1
Scott7975 Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 (edited) Wow the Chiefs lucked into that one. edit wait: I don't really want to go through this thread as I am late to it. Can Rodgers play or not or undetermined? Edited November 3, 2021 by Scott7975
wjag Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 I think in the interest of fairness and sportsmanship, the Chiefs should sit Patty this weekend. 😈 2

Hapless Bills Fan Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 17 minutes ago, unbillievable said: Beasley's stance makes a lot of sense. There is no reason to treat positive tests differently. Once you're sick it doesn't matter whether you got vaccinated or not, you can spread it. They have already shown that the viral loads are the same, regardless of symptoms. Clearly it's harsher not to prevent spread, but to encourage players to get shot. Rogers could test negative twice before Sunday and they would still keep him out as punishment. We are NOT gonna turn this into "Yet Another Beasley Thread". The NFL is basing their policy on data that while the viral titer in infected vaxxed vs. unvaxxed people measures the same initially, it declines more quickly in vaccinated people and there is lower spread. If their protocols don't turn out to be sufficient to contain spread within teams, the NFL will revise them. 13 minutes ago, unbillievable said: But keeping players away from the team is to prevent spread. Having different timelines for both makes no sense. Send your registered letter explaining this to the NFL's chief medical officer (and Vandy professor) Dr. Allen Stills. I'm sure he'll be happy to hear that the protocols the NFL's medical committee developed based on reviewing the latest research make no sense, and will give your objections his earliest attention. 2 1 1

Why should I trust a mechanic just because they are trained experts in their field?! I'll just ask random dudes on FB instead. 4 4 3
