CorkScrewHill Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/11/03/michael-thomas-announces-he-will-not-play-this-season/ Between the QB situation and this news .. it should make Thanksgiving easier (not easy .. and as always anything can happen) Quote
Blainorama5 Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 Well, they do have a winning record without him, so not sure it's going to make much difference at this point. Quote
hjnick Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 Dude is a head case. I think he just wanted to take a year off… Quote
Process Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 Right after the Winston injury? Dude probably realized Taysom Hill was going to be their QB the rest of the year and said naw I'm out. 1 Quote
Might Rather Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 I've been stashing him on my FF bench all year hoping to have him for playoffs. I thought it was genius.... 1 1 Quote

Payton is a brilliant coach I think Thomas would've been fine with their QB situation. Quote

Rigotz Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 My buddy is a big Saints fan and he said the Saints have been trying to offload him for months. "He doesn't ever want to play football again" is the general feeling and Saints are trying to salvage what they can. Quote

wjag Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 (edited) Something has been off about Michael Thomas from the get here. He must really not like the head coach or front office. Something I learned today that I did not know. MT is Give Me the Damn Ball's nephew. Splains a lot... Edited November 3, 2021 by wjag Quote

benderbender Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 A coworker is a Saints fan who seems to think that football was a means to an end for Thomas and that his huge contract left him less hungry for the game. Not sure how to fact check that Quote

Utah John Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 I think Jairus Byrd might be a better match than Marcel Dareus. Byrd had a couple of good years with the Bills, then signed a big FA contract with the Saints, and suddenly discovered he just didn't feel like playing -- but getting paid was another story. He was good at that part. Quote 1 Quote

Saints still have been formidable without him all year but without him coming back and Jamis out it will be a challenge. 10 minutes ago, Utah John said: I think Jairus Byrd might be a better match than Marcel Dareus. He was good at that part. I thought Byrd's issue was that he got hurt his first year in NOLA and was just never the same player along with getting banged up almost every year he played there. I wasn't aware of any effort issues with Byrd in NOLA. Quote
