Right after the Winston injury? Dude probably realized Taysom Hill was going to be their QB the rest of the year and said naw I'm out.

Trevor Siemian started last game and did well. Payton is a brilliant coach I think Thomas would've been fine with their QB situation.

Siemian came in after Winston was hurt. Hill wasn't even dressed because of a concussion.

My buddy is a big Saints fan and he said the Saints have been trying to offload him for months.

"He doesn't ever want to play football again" is the general feeling and Saints are trying to salvage what they can.

Something has been off about Michael Thomas from the get here.  He must really not like the head coach or front office.

Something I learned today that I did not know.  MT is Give Me the Damn Ball's nephew.  Splains a lot...

Well, they do have a winning record without him, so not sure it's going to make much difference at this point.

he could have made them better

Significantly.  This kid is phenomenal when healthy.

I've been stashing him on my FF bench all year hoping to have him for playoffs. I thought it was genius....

Did the same in one of my leagues. You’re not alone at least

A coworker is a Saints fan who seems to think that football was a means to an end for Thomas and that his huge contract left him less hungry for the game. Not sure how to fact check that

Maybe Michael Thomas = Marcel Dareus?  They achieved what they were hoping to achieve by playing football.  The ability to never work another day in their life

I think Jairus Byrd might be a better match than Marcel Dareus.   Byrd had a couple of good years with the Bills, then signed a big FA contract with the Saints, and suddenly discovered he just didn't feel like playing -- but getting paid was another story.  He was good at that part.

Dude is a head case.

He was dealing with an injury that he had last season. Not sure if it was poorly managed or just bad luck that it didn't heal in time. Saints still have been formidable without him all year but without him coming back and Jamis out it will be a challenge.

I thought Byrd's issue was that he got hurt his first year in NOLA and was just never the same player along with getting banged up almost every year he played there. I wasn't aware of any effort issues with Byrd in NOLA.

I did the same.
