If you get Heineke back, I would do it.  Heineke is a better than average back up.

I just don't understand the rumor though, Washington is done.

They get Trubisky in for a half of the season to see if he can be their #1 next year.  The draft is incredibly weak at QB, and RIvera's 3rd year is coming up.

Trubisky is a FA and can take any offer out there.

I know we need help on the oline, and while Trubisky may never even play significant time with us I have a weird feeling about potentially trading him away. I feel like (God forbid) he can play well enough to win some games short term if we should need him to. I hope he never has to, but I feel much better about him being here than not

If Josh is hurt, we are done.  I’d rather have an all pro Guard protecting him than a backup QB

He's valuable insurance, but if the offer is a 4th round pick it starts to become enticing.  For a 5th, I'm not sure Beane would do it.

A 4th rounder with. Condition to buy up to a 3rd rounder becomes all the more enticing.

Great asset management, if Beane is able to turn a great, low cost FA signing into a valuable mid round pick.

If Allen goes down season is scrapped anyways, so go for it. Don't want to see a trade for futures, need immediate help on the O-line or RB.

Not with this d and a Mitch type qb.

You think if he goes to Washington, plays half a season for them and gets an offer to stay on as the starter, he leaves?

Ya, if he has a better option out there.

I think you make this move if it involves OL help.

Your choice is between is a stronger OL with Allen and a weak backup QB, or a questionable OL with Allen and Trubisky.  Even if Allen gets injured, in that later scenario, Mitch is stuck behind a couple turnstiles masquerading as guards.  I think our chances of advancing in the playoffs take a sharper dropoff with Trubisky/weak OL versus Webb/better OL.

Mitch has not had to do a lot for Chicago and Nagy to look like a clown org this year.

Plenty of teams would be willing to kick the tires.... but really nice to have the Mitch security blanket - especially with Allen taking the hits he is on designed runs.

Gotta disagree with you here.   If you spend a half a year in an offense, are already in the building and they want to pay you to be the starter I think you re-up immediately.   Good options usually already have starting Quarterbacks.

I definitely wouldn’t.  The Bills have a great chance to contend this season.  You only get so many chances and can’t expect to be in a better position next season.  Who knows what could happen.

A conditional 3rd round pick doesn’t help the team this season…it only hurts it

But if Josh has a stinger and is only out a few weeks we are not done- that’s the contingency I am referring to. It may jeopardize #1 seed but Mitch is talented enough to win. Can he pull a “Foles” and win it all? Who knows… I hope we never have to find out but i would rather have the best option available in an emergency.

if we can get an absolutely key piece that is lock down for a few years then we do what we have to, but Mitch gives us the best chance to win vs any other backup in the NFL
