Surfmeister
Classic passive-aggressive woman exactly. Makes plans with the groom. Says she's into them. Then when it comes time to do it, she changes the plans all on her own in her secret-world and leaves the groom shafted. It's all about appearances. MartyBall4Buffalo
Good to hear that she's ok. And I understand the cold feet. Even though you may love someone, really give them your whole heart, it's still difficult to take that plunge, but it's still great news that it was just cold feet and she's alive and well. Thailog80
Hey look! A story about a woman who's nuts! 324344 How about paying for all the manpower hours wasted on her "search"?
Clockwork
How about paying for all the manpower hours wasted on her "search"? 324351 Exactly. In this day in age, the media overblows stories, and police start these searches that are brought about by all the media attention. All of the news channels are salivating for another Peterson situation. The money that was spent on a search is a farce, in hinsight. Although you never know the situation, these situations should be more closely looked at.
PromoTheRobot
And what did the cops do? Suspect the fiance right off the bat! He was the guy who reported her missing and for that he's suspect #1. Sometimes I think cops get lazy and try to hang it on the closest person they find. I don't blame him for not wanting to take a poly without a video. It was obvious they were going to try to pin it on him. PTR
gmac17
How about paying for all the manpower hours wasted on her "search"? To quote my favorite movie, The Usual Suspects, "If a man gets killed and the cops think his brother did it, they are going to find out their right". I feel bad for the groom in all of this. One day, just a normal guy. The next, CNN, Fox News and MSNBC are camped outside of his house, questioning whether or not he had something to do with her dissapearance. I am really dissapointed with the cable news channels. Why is this their top story on national news? Aren't we fighting a war? Isn't Social Security in shambles? Isn't there terror attacks happening in Cairo RIGHT NOW? Why all the talk about this crazy chick with cold feet? It's a sad state of affairs. Clockwork
Because people like tabloid crap to watch while eating their Hot Pockets. 324372 Unfortunatly, that is the case. Speaking of "case", that seems to be one hell of a buzzword on the news channels these days. Was this girl's dissapearance a case? I thought a case was something that prosecutors brought against a defendant, but I might be wrong. Also, a guy like me shouldn't know that Mike Jackson had a book called "Boys Will Be Boys". I want to keep informed, but these news channels are driving me up the wall!

Because all you are going to get is news, news, news from them. The only news shows I watch religiously are Fox & Friends, and The O'Reilly Factor. Any more than that is a bit much for me. You have so many channels on tv to choose from, you can easily take a break from the news.
30dive
The media just loves this stuff and saddly so do we! To those who think she should be charged, I say for what? So we can spend more money? So we can give the media outlets a greater opportunity to sell more advertising? Maybe the authorities in New Mexico could charge her with lying to them about being abducted, however she seemed to have changed that story very quickly! She did not ask the media whores to set up shop in front of her house, she is a single woman who got cold feet and ran. No evidence of foul play, but the media, looking for it newest Laci Peterson gleens onto it and the authorities, as always fall for it, hook, line and sinker. If the media thinks it's big and MSNBC, FOX and CNN show up we better hold press conference's and bring out the cadaber (sp) dogs. Yeah this (yes probably a little nuts) girl got cold feet and ran away, she should have at least called someone, left a message or a note, but to charge her with a crime? Move those media trucks off the property and let it go!
UConn James
Yeah, but the media is to blame for that, not the girl. There's no law against disappearing for a few days, is there? 324387 Why is the media being blamed for following a story that is newsworthy? Or should all stories about (possible) abduction be censored? Shoot the messenger, I guess. The woman faked her abduction! She cut her own hair off at the scene to somehow (a weird somehow, mind you) make people think she was kidnapped. She didn't just take off for a few days. Vera Wang wedding dress: $5,000. Fiskers Scissors: $2. Setting off a nationwide manhunt, employing local, state and federal agencies all just so you don't have to see the look on your fiance's face when you tell him you're 'Just Not That Into Him,' and getting off Scot free b/c you're a pretty, wide-eyed suburban white girl: Priceless. The statisitics say, a very high percentage of these cases end up being the spouse/boyfriend. Their choices were basically to investigate him and other family members or take their pick from the other 249,999,999 people in the country. Where are their better odds? Reuben Gant
What is crazy about this story is how the media picked it up before she was missing 48 hours. CNN/FOX/MSNBC have decided these are great stories to pick up because they are so easy to cover and the interviews of family members are wrenching human drama. Because of the Media exposure, what police jurisdiction is not going to put every man they got on the case, because if they don't, it would look like they aren't concerned. Expect these missing people stories to be thrown at us at every opportunity. Waste of time.

Shoot the messenger, I guess. 324435 I'm not saying it isn't newsworthy, I'm saying that it is way overexposed. There are hundreds of people that go missing every day, but I never hear about them. I guess it takes a wide eyed, cute, white, suburban bride-to-be for it to be newsworthy, ala Peterson. I will retract that statement as soon as I hear a story about the inner city black girl going missing.
