H2o Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 Last night's loss was a tough one. We can all question some decisions, some calls, some penalties called or not called, and many other things from the Monday night game. It was a slugfest for 60 minutes that we came up just a little short on. Both defenses were popping the opposition when given the opportunity. It really was a good and fun game to watch, outside of the outcome for Bills fans. Glass half empty: For all of the talk about us having the #1 defense we were exposed last night. We barely made Tannehill feel uncomfortable at all in the 2nd half. Granted there is only one Derrick Henry in the NFL, our run defense was really bad as well. Guys taking bad angles and being out of position cost us multiple times. When we face teams like that we have a hard time matching up in the Secondary. If our guys are forced to play a lot of Man coverage then other teams kill us over the middle of the field every time. It's usually Levi on slants and crossing routes that ends up getting burned, but it happens to Johnson and Tre occasionally as well. That is where Tennessee did most of their damage in the passing game and it provides other teams who can legitimately run the ball with that blueprint. Frazier and McDermott have to come up with a defensive gameplan to handle these types of offenses. McDermott also, though the best coach we have had in the last 2 decades, still does not throw the challenge flags when he should at times and also makes some decisions easy to 2nd guess. Edmunds, though making some more splash plays this year, still struggles at times with where he should be during a play. He was out of position multiple times last night on both running and passing plays. He needs to be the Captain of this defense and make sure he is playing his role for each play call. The running game is still suspect and the play calling within that area for Daboll is really head scratching at times. All in all we still have some issues and those issues could very well cost us in the Playoffs depending on how the matchups play out. Glass half full: Josh Allen is really becoming a legit superstar in this league (though I believe most of us have recognized this long ago). There are starting to be no boxes whatsoever he does not check off. Last night it was evident in his decision making. There were multiple plays where he didn't force the action, but instead chose to use his check down receiving option just to get any positive yards he could. Be it a RB, or Knox, or Beasley in the flats, he made use of everything. Was he perfect? No, but he was pretty dang good considering the pressure he was under most of the night. They did everything they possibly could to make him uncomfortable, but time and time again he stepped up in the big situation with a big first down to keep the drive going or using his legs if possible. Like I said last week, he just looks more settled on the field no matter the situation. Beasley is still the best Slot WR in the game and we need to use him that way. He's basically uncoverable. Diggs is a true #1 who will produce at a #1 WR clip if he's fed a #1 WR amount of targets. There is no team that we can't beat and we will not be blown out by anyone this year. Josh and this offense are that good. Star looks as good as he has ever looked in this league while playing at a lesser weight none the less as well. This team will be hard to handle come January if we remain healthy and the road in the AFC is forced to come through Buffalo. We are truly a SB contender this year and just need to be playing our best ball at the right time. 4 2 Quote
RyanC883 Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 We are truly a SB contender this year and just need to be playing our best ball at the right time. This is the key to everything, and why the loss is so frustrating. 3 2 Quote
Ethan in Cleveland Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 They were #1 only because they played terrible QBs. There were some nice signs of an improving pass rush but it was non-existent last night. Edmunds is better this year than last but still so far from being a dominant middle linebacker. Glass half empty: Bills are soft. Glass half full: so is most of the rest of the league. Tampa, Tenn, Pittsburgh, and maybe Baltimore are the only truly physical teams. Bills will win no less than 8 more games and have the division won by first week of December. Quote
CircleTheWagons99 Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 Its hard to win in the NFL when every other Team is allowed to Hold and the Bills are not. 1 2 Quote
Blainorama5 Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 Glass half empty: Demoralizing loss for a game that was there to be taken. Too many dumb mistakes. Glass half full: Better to get a loss like this out of the way fairly early. Bills need to be peaking at the END of the season - since they will absolutely be winning this division and going to the playoffs. After the Bye, go out and beat up on those weak teams - and get your mojo back!! 1 Quote
Brennan Huff Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 The AFC is wide open and our schedule is very friendly from here on out. Miami better pack a lunch because Allen is going to drop 500 yards on em in a couple weeks 1 Quote
SCBills Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 Glass Half Empty: -Nobody is trading decent OL mid-season, so we need to make due with what we have. Have to hope Dawkins gets his act together and we find some way to not have a complete sieve at LG. -4-2 with head to head tie-breaker losses to PIT and TEN. I doubt PIT will be of consequence, but if TEN can figure out how to stop being bi-polar, they could be there in the end for the 1 seed given their remaining schedule. -The Defense is built to stop KC, but is susceptible to teams like TEN. Both TEN and CLE could be matchups in the Playoffs, so we need to figure this out in season. Glass Half Full: -Allen is an absolute superstar. You just expect monster games from him now, and he doesn't disappoint. -4-2 and our remaining schedule lends itself to making a strong run for the 1 seed. -TEN played one of their great games, and we played pretty poorly by our standards.. Game still came down to the wire, with us coming just short on an attempt to win the game as opposed to tieing it. 2 2 1 Quote
TheBrownBear Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 Glass half empty - we've now dropped two winnable games to fellow AFC playoff contenders. Glass half full - we're healthy, we have a top-5 QB, a very good young head coach, arguably the best/most-balanced overall roster in the league, have a 2 game lead in the AFCE and an unbelievably soft schedule for the rest of the season. 1 1 1 Quote
78thealltimegreat Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 We need to remember every team in this league has had a game like last night…Ravens against the Raiders and Lions…Bucs against the Rams and Patriots…the Chiefs against the Ravens and Chargers..and even Arizona should have lost to the Vikings if their kicker didn’t choke that’s football Quote
LeGOATski Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 How the hell you gonna complain about Edmunds and not Milano...lol 1 2 1 Quote

CincyBillsFan Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 Glass half full: we are exactly where we were last season at 4 - 2. The difference is that we could have and probably should have won both games we lost this year. last year, KC & TN manhandled us in games we were not going to win. There is no doubt that Allen has achieved elite QB status. In the NFL the only team that has a chance without an elite QB are the Titans because they have the best RB in the NFL. Maybe when all is said and done the best RB to have ever played. Last nights loss hurt but it was also the type of close hard nosed game the Bills are going to experience in the playoffs (only with a better result). If the Bills take care of business and beat the tams they're supposed to beat then we're looking at a 13 - 4 season. And in this years AFC that could be good enough for home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Quote

People always said Milano gets some leeway because he makes the splash plays. Well....he made no splash plays last night and sucked. I think this proves that some people just have a bias against Edmunds, for some reason. (I'm being purposefully harsh on Milano because that's how people have reacted towards Edmunds. I'm really not that pissed.) 1 Quote
nedboy7 Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 Glass half empty: Even with our glaring needs and terrible play we were one play away from winning that game. Glass half full: I dont really think we have glaring needs nor did we play terrible. Every week has its challenges. We did not play great. Last year's SB champs were 7-5 after week 12. They lost to NO 38-3. They were not "built to beat the Saints". Then SB Champs. Crushed NO. It's the NFL. Quote
First Round Bust Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 well the D is going to see these Tenn plays again (and again) so its a good opportunity to review-adjust-adapt a better scheme to where we support the box for the run while improving coverage in the middle on those crosses and seams, as simple as turning your head or some lateral movements..easier said than done, but some of those passes could have been deflected or tipped as they whistled past their earholes Quote

I kind of wonder about him and his injury though because he did not look like himself. Not really giving him a pass, but sort of taking it into account regardless of his "designation" for the game. I was actually expecting to see more of Klein on the field tbh. Quote
