Jelly fans speak up

  1. 1. How much jelly should be on a properly made PB&J?

  2. 2. As a second question - Peanut butter or Almond Butter for you?

The proper amount of peanut butter is "all of it".  The jelly might depend on the type of fruit.  I can heap on raspberry or blackberry.  Huckleberry is delicious, but a little goes a long way.

I answered the only correct answer along with some of my brethren…30-40%.

It can’t be 50-50.  I love jelly, too, but it simply can’t be.

and below 30%?

No offense, but shove it. Just plain not enough jelly sweet goodness.

The jam/jelly is to give it flavor the main thing they want is the protein.

Too much sugar can make them sluggish.

At home do as you please but the athletic staff knows whats up.

I like mine 80/ peanut butter/20 smuckers strawberry jam on 12 grain bread.

I love them so much I pack 2 of them in my lunch for work along with carrots, apples and a banana plus 4 oatmeal raisin cookies and 5 bottles of water.

Sometimes its Tuna but 75% of the time it PBJ :)

Lunch meat has way to much sodium.

as adults, are we really eating this much pb&j?  we have access to so many other sandwich options,  that pb&j shouldn't be a regular unless you're 5 or on food stamps.

Boooo.  Never too much PB&J.

Grilled PB&J is amazing too. And the J should be Jam.

20-30% seems right to me, the peanut butter is the main component and the jelly (jam in Australia's case) is just a bit of sweetness. I mean to judge but the 50% guys sound like the type to put 5 teaspoons of sugar in a coffee.

PB on both pieces of bread to prevent the bread from getting soggy. Jelly in the middle. Cut down the middle. I’d say 60/40 on PB to J

lol @ bread getting soggy. how much time are you spending on this sandwich?

That's the stuff my wife eats. I don't eat sandwiches too often since I retired. I got tired of eating sandwiches for lunch every day for 43 years. I have a loaf of white bread in the freezer in case of emergency.

i almost never eat sandwiches for lunch anymore either.  i'll get back into it her and there, but it's light stuff typically.

not to swing this in another direction, but i wonder what the feelings are towards the standard cheese sandwich vs the pb&j.  i'll take the cheese sandwich every single time.

You think pineapple on pizza is a godsend. Also carrot cake is probably your favorite dessert. In other words you should be locked up.

You may have just summed up my ex in three sentences. Only thing missed was specifically carrot cake “without walnuts” 😂

Always whole wheat, always smooth peanut butter (Skippy), and the type of Jelly almost makes almost no difference (unless it's like pepper jelly or something not sweet). If it's at home I'll toast the bread.

Ratio depends on what it's for. Lunch for work is like 30% jelly.

In the middle of a 100 mile bike ride day, the main component is the carbs so I'll go 50% or even 60% Jelly there.

Hey, are you trying to derail this thread with meaningless discussion about cheese sandwiches? Stick to the topic.

However, bacon in the midst of the cheese in a grilled cheese sandwich is awesome.

Grilled peanut butter, jelly, and bacon. For reelz.
