Tony the Tiger Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 A co-worker of mine told me that the new BK commericals that feature a creepy looking Burger King who shows up at a guy's window or in his bed to offer him a BK sandwich is geared toward African-Americans. And that the reason I find them so creepy in a horror film slasher kind of way is because I am not the target audience. So I was just wondering, do people on this board find these commericals really creepy and are they targeted toward African-Americans?

The commercial with the person waking up with the king in their bed was just spooky. I do not see it, however, as targeting African-Americans in those commercials.

That's why.
/dev/null Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 i dunno about the targeting towards a specific demographic but the new Burger King is one creepy MoFo. if i woke up and saw him outside my window i'd call the cops for trespassing and attempted homicide. offering someone one of those heart attack sandwiches for breakfast is like 3rd degree manslaughter
boomerjamhead Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 It's one of the most retarded commercials I have ever seen. Who ever came up with that concept as a counter to Ron McDon should be canned. I don't see African Americans as the target audience either, but then again I've only seen the commercial once and it was on the Science Channel I think.
Greg de'Ville Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 ...the Burger King is a dead ringer for the "King of Bling" in Philadelphia, the loquacious Howard Eskin.

brihs2005 Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 The Return of the King The above link explains a bit of why they did the commercial that way. I think this is the one you are refering to. (I have yet to see any new BK commercials on TV)
plenzmd1 Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 I like the commercials, find them funny . At least to me its like they are making fun of themselves, especially that heart attack on a bun breakfast sandwich(BTW, there awesome)
Ramius Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 the King is just creepy...i would beat his ass if i ever saw that psycho anywhere near me...
stuckincincy Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 He looks cleaner than their restuarants usually are.
Pine Barrens Mafia Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 That is the first thing I thought, as well. 323408 Only the King's head is smaller than Eskin's. What a prick that guy is.

Gavin in Va Beach Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 What, the BK commercial with Hootie dressed up as a cowboy and those two effeminate looking twins didn't appeal to the African-American community?

stuckincincy Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 323491 I patronize them only once a year - and they invariably screw up the order. I never go in Winter. The employee's noses are always dripping.
Alaska Darin Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 The King's head is the perfect 12 gauge target.
Thailog80 Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 The King's head is the perfect 12 gauge target. 323512 Don Kings head right?
TheMadCap Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 Ironically, the king reminds me of an abomination we have here in Richmond called the Mattress King....
