The idea is that since the guy that tossed it was going so fast forward despite throwing it behind him it was still technically moving forward...it's still really ***** dumb though.

Took a few minutes off the clock, demoralized the Ravens a bit more, and got the TD after giving their defense a rest

Watching the ball and not the players, it did move forward about a foot from when he tossed it.  Ticky-tacky call and ended up killing more clock with the same result so it really doesn't matter but was something I've never seen.
