Scott7975 Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 Bills’ Dawson Knox is NFL’s best tight end through 5 weeks, and Travis Kelce helped him do it https://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/2021/10/bills-dawson-knox-is-nfls-best-tight-end-through-5-weeks-and-travis-kelce-helped-him-do-it.html Quote “(Kelce) probably broke down film for two hours on one route for us,” Knox said last week. “He calls himself the Picasso of routes. It might look like a certain type of route but it’s gonna be a little different. Like Picasso used to draw humans and little things might be different, but it’s still a human. He kind of puts his own twist on stuff.” Knox said that Kelce emphasized the importance of working on timing with the quarterback. Those repetitions and familiarity have allowed him and Patrick Mahomes to dominate opposing defenses the past few seasons. Knox took that approach with Allen in the summer and the two were able to put little twists on different routes they worked on. I knew Knox went to TE University or whatever but I didn't realize he was working with Kelce, Kittle, and Olsen there. Quote

When Knox had his opportunities, he couldn't take advantage of them. He wasn't physical enough to beat press coverage or to get off the line and get separation downfield. Now though.... I kind of took the opposite tack… even through last year Kelce would have bouts of the dropsies. If Kelce can be the best with his traits even with the occasional hiccup, then Knox with his similar traits and hiccups is worth taking the long view on. Knox has always had those flash plays even as a rookie, and has been said, came in awfully raw - like the Josh Allen of tight ends. 1 Quote
SlimShady'sSpaceForce Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 TIL In high-school Knox played quarterback 🤔 Daboll? (or is that old news?) Quote
ColoradoBills Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 (edited) There will be a Knox to Allen passing play in the future. @SlimShady'sSpaceForce Edited October 14, 2021 by ColoradoBills 1 1 Quote

There’s nothing “tough guy” about it. Stunts like these are just petty revisionism. They’re promoted by clout chasers looking to boost their follower counts by a few hundred. All they do is divide fanbases. “Oh, you were critical of Knox and skeptical of him? Well, I never was, even when he dropped 20% of his targets. Here, sign this form and admit your sins to the internet.” Lame. Quote

He wasn't good, but most reasonable people could see the potential and understand his rawness and the historical learning curve for the position. The "criticism" was basically that "he sucks" and we need to move on and find somebody else. Take the L. But nope, now we get Badol'ian argument shifts- "well, he did suck so I was right!" 1 Quote

Hey I am very glad he worked out the drop issues. He always had the athletic potential to be a great tight end - no one knew if he could actually develop it though, partly because he was used so sparingly in college as a pass catcher. His drop issues early rightly worried some fans, including me. I’m not apologizing for squat. Quote

Poleshifter Posted October 15, 2021 Posted October 15, 2021 When Dawson Knox was drafted, I immediately loved the pick. Not that I knew much about him, but as soon as the Bills made that pick, Belichek traded out of his spot two picks later. That seemed to indicate we may have spoiled his plan for taking his next big tight end. It could be just coincidence, but it could have been cause and effect. Quote
GoBills808 Posted October 15, 2021 Posted October 15, 2021 I thought he was pretty much beyond redemption Instead he has been a revelation this year so far I was wrong on Knox🙏🙏 1 Quote
Orlando Buffalo Posted October 15, 2021 Posted October 15, 2021 I can thankfully say I never wrote him off- I remember Eric Moulds sucking his first two years before being good- but this explosion is impressive. Quote
