Greg de'Ville Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 ...a mere five days after they drafted The Nuge, the Dog-Ass Jets released Brien. It's not a big cap hit ($400k), but it is one all the same. Shows to go ya that, as there is no crying in baseball, there is no sympathy in football. It's a bottom-line, win-or-else business.
KD in CA Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 So.....what about the Bills signing this guy? I'm a little surprised that this hasn't been a frequent topic on this board. Doug Brian has been a solid kicker for the Jets excluding those ugly two minutes in Pittsburgh. He is certainly superior to Lindell. Are people really that turned off by his playoff failure?

Think of it this way, What would you feel like if you go to the Super Bowl, get down to line up for a 43 yard kick, with afew seconds on the clock, and the guy kicks it wide? I would hate to have that happen..... again

His demeanor and body language during and after that OT win over the Faiders spoke volumes. He had lost his confidence, and was in no mood to celebrate. Weeks later, it turned out that SB 26 was his last game. When Brien missed those two FGs in the Pitt game, his plight and Norwood's from that Faiders game in '91 were almost identical, only the Bills came out on top and the Dog-Ass Jets did not.
Yard Monkey Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 Weeks later, it turned out that SB 26 was his last game. 323324 Didn't he play the next season for the Bills?
Greg de'Ville Posted April 29, 2005 Author Posted April 29, 2005 Didn't he play the next season for the Bills? 323328 Nope...Steve Christie took over the kicking duties in '92.

Norwood played one more year after the miss. The 91 season. Was 18-29 (very mediocre). You're right about Christie coming on in '92. http://profootballreference.com/teams/buf1991.htm
boomerjamhead Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 Didn't they have two kickers one year? I can't think of the other dude's name right now.
Beerball Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 Didn't they have two kickers one year? I can't think of the other dude's name right now. 323345 Brad Daluiso kicked here in 91. He wat the kickoff specialist who was with the Gints previously (if memory serves). Can't remember if he tried any long FGs.

But, I'd still rather see Brian than Lindell.
