Ridgewaycynic2013
Do you celebrate today (Sunday) or the actual day?
Marv's Neighbor
Happy Thanksgiving, whichever day you choose. No doubt, we all have a lot to be thankful for! I wish the US had sense enough to move our holiday to October, simply because the weather is generally more moderate. This to accommodate people who want/need to travel to be with friends & family.
Bad Things
Happy Thanksgiving! So, do you guys eat Turkey on this holiday, or do Canadians eat Beaver instead? 😜 Edited October 12, 2021 by Bad Things

The irony to that is that the U.S. Thanksgiving was originally celebrated in October, intermittently by presidential proclamation. It was Lincoln who moved it to the last Thursday in November; FDR moved it back to the fourth Thursday.

Thanksgiving is historically a Northern, New England based holiday. Lincoln made it official every year to needle the South. 4th weekend is just more consistent with a longer week during the shopping season before Christmas. A 5th...Last Thursday, I think should only fall if the 1st of November is on a Wednesday or Thursday. What? that's like 2 outta every 6-7 years? It's a good marker to the Christmas season... IMO...
