Jerome007 Posted October 8, 2021 Posted October 8, 2021 Well, it seems then it's a normal, decent contract then. Sadly, not the Jets being desperate and bursting their salary cap. Oh well. Bills will beat them regardless. Quote

I like Salah. I do too. I think Saleh can coach defense. Whether he is one of those coordinators who never makes the jump to Head Coach there is no way of knowing yet, but he can coach defense. He has that completely undertalented Jets group lacking in star names playing above their station on that side of the ball - top half of the league in yards and point. The roster is still a long way off challenging though. Quote
Scott7975 Posted October 8, 2021 Posted October 8, 2021 We have the Jets in 5 weeks. I thought it would be a laugher but now I'm concerned. Quote

He had 5 career sacks over 2 seasons (plus a season on IR). Jumping to a $55m extension after a good 4 game start to a season reeks of desperation. For a platoon guy, he's got a fair amount of experience in three uninjured years. 30% of the defensive snaps in 2018 in L.A. Injured in 2019. 44% of the D snaps last year with the Jets, and 67% this year. Wow, strip-sack of Brady in the 2018 Super Bowl. 13 QB hits in 15 games last year. Doesn't seem like a bad move, unfortunately. Edited October 8, 2021 by Thurman#1 Quote

Jets continue their storied tradition of falling in love hard and fast with D-linemen giving John Franklin-Meyers a big payday for notching 3 sacks in 4 games. Hopefully he turns out to be a flash in the pan and hampers their salary cap for the next few years. Probably gets traded next offseason after the honeymoon wears off and the gravity of playing for New Jersey sinks in. This dude was a monster against Tennessee. In the backfield almost play. Not sure what he’s done outside of the game but for one game - he looked to be awesome Quote
FilthyBeast Posted October 8, 2021 Posted October 8, 2021 Like others mentioned, this is a Beane type of deal that's not as lavish as it looks on the surface and worth a shot on lesser know player who could be a real find. 1 Quote
Bill from NYC Posted October 8, 2021 Posted October 8, 2021 It helps to be playing next to Quinnen Williams who looks like he is turning into a fine player. Quote

I actually don't think Q has been that great so far this year. Not bad as such but not playing at his 2020 standard. He was inarguably the best player on the Jets last season. Quote

At this point so far....., in your opinion which of the top 2 DT drafted that year between Q and Oliver has been better so far and has more upside? Edited October 8, 2021 by Sheneneh Jenkins Quote

Ed was much better as a rookie, Q was much better last year. Both up and down this year. I had Ed graded slightly higher at draft time but I think they were my #2 and #3 players so it was close. billsfan89 Posted October 8, 2021 Posted October 8, 2021 The structure of the deal as other posters have mentioned basically makes it a one year deal with an option to pick up the rest as they can get out of the contract after 2022 with a small dead cap hit. It is the type of deal that benefits both sides. It looks foolish on the surface but digging into the details it is a sensible deal. 1 Quote

Hey, as long as the Bills win it's all cool!!!!!!! Quote

Ridgewaycynic2013 Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 Thanks to the pandemic, Johnson and Johnson is rife with cash. Might as well spread it around. Quote
