A few years ago, I had two of my credit cards hacked in two days.  It was after purchasing Chinese knock-off Bills jerseys.  Both cards were used to buy Domino's pizza in NYC.

You've got "free" money, you're in NYC ... and you go to DOMINO'S ?!!?!?

I would almost feel sorry for those hackers.

This is a case where you use a prepaid credit card, get them at walmart or probably amscot... that way you can put just enough money on it to pay for the goods. I won't put my main cards online but these are great.

I can’t find it now but I read an article saying that the extent of the breach wasn’t yet known and the hackers may have had full access to anything that relies on Amazon Web Services (their cloud platform) and it said if your data was stored anywhere on those servers that it could be compromised even if you’ve never used twitch.

I guess I should have said Amazon data “may have been breached” (we know twitch was for sure).

as far as the leaked data, I saw people talking about it on Reddit. There was a link to download all the data and some people saying it contained passwords. But I don’t know if that’s actually true or not.

If AWS was hacked, we're in deep kimchi. I mean President addressing both houses of congress kimchi. 3/4 of national security runs on AWS.

Regarding passwords.. no way. Bezo's didn't become the world's richest divorcee by being an idiot. Amazon passwords are thoroughly hashed and salted.

Probably an employee running your card, then taking that amount of cash out of the register.

And I can beat that.  I had two of my cards reported being used within hours of each other.  One used in Atlanta, the other being used in Chicago and somewhere in Texas, on the same morning.  Luckily I had a third card at the time I could use until those two were replaced.  I'm pretty sure I know where the people got my info from, a hotel in NJ, since I had stayed there the previous couple of weeks, using both cards different weeks to pay for my room.

Now I have all my cards set up to text me immediately if anything is charged.
