Comebackkid Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 lets hope is bias is stronger against the chiefs than the bills 1
Freddie's Dead Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 Doesn't matter, NFL officiating is uniformly terrible. It's a roll of the dice as to who gets screwed more in any given game. 4 13 1

Criticized by whom? Just Chiefs fans? Because everyone else on the planet thought it was justified. 9 1
Utah John Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 You can't blame the Chiefs for being upset. They beat the Bills in the AFCCG through defensive holding on our receivers, and then they were shocked shocked they couldn't get away with it in the SB. 5 8 1
H2o Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 Hopefully that means the Chiefs don't get away with Defensive Holding and DPI for the entirety of the game this time. And that clowns like Chris Jones can't swing on our players without as much as a 15 yard flag. I hate the Chiefs. From their walrus for a coach, to their arrogant rat of a QB, to their child abusing WR, to their uzi toting wanna be Tony Montana DE, seriously, all those guys. May their jock straps be lined with Icy Hot forever. 6 2 12 2 2

And yes, the refs can very well be a determining factor. Phantom holding and unjustified PI's are in play. 3
machine gun kelly Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 Chiefs fans sucks you have to play by the rules. 2
Captain Caveman Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 I said this after the game last year, but our coaching staff needs to assess how the game is being called and adjust - if they're getting away with holding on every play, we need to adjust to play more physical as well.

The refs are there to maintain control, if the chiefs are mugging us we should return the favor and dare the refs to keep things civil. Feel like that’s why we got pushed around in the afccg, they were pushing us around and we didn’t dare push back. 1 3

Chiefs were criticized for 9 points against the Bucs... Who cares who the refs are?

A big reason why is that Tampa Bay held their weapons (like the Chiefs like to do) - again, knowing the refs and their tendencies is part of coaching. 1

Yeah they pulled the old Seattle Legion of Boom plan....illegal contact and defensive holding on every pass play and dare the refs to throw a flag every play. Obviously they aren't going to. Not sure why more teams don't try it. Edited October 6, 2021 by Big Turk
RiotAct Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 he was also the ref in our Divisional Round matchup against the Ravens, I believe.

I think the big reason they lost was that their banged up offensive line couldn't even hold the tampa pass rush to stop them. They had no solution to vea and suh just wreaking havoc inside. Mahomes likes to cut up field on those or escape backwards (it seemed like tampa wanted him to move backwards)- he was pressured 37.5% of drop backs. Once he evades pressure and escapes to the side, illegal contact is no longer a penalty so you can play a lot tighter coverage in those situations. This is why buffalo went heavy with pass rush, and this is why KC went all in on offensive line. KC did have a number of defensive penalties called in the super bowl that they seemed to get away with in buffalo. Everyone was all up in arms about the mathieu penalty in the endzone - you can't call d-holding with the ball in the air therefore it's PI since he was the targeted receiver. They also lined up Offside on a FG and gave tampa 4 extra points... was that the ref's fault too?
Captain Caveman Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 I'm not blaming anything on the refs, I am saying there is value in knowing the refs tendencies (both historically and in game) and adjusting accordingly. 1
