This is even more critical with the addition of a 17th game. The league's going to learn this the hard way when some of their biggest stars are either beat up or out going into the playoffs. With how much money and attention the NFL gets this would be the worst decision possible. Thursday Night Football is not liked at all by players because of lack of rest and injuries', NFL does it because it makes gobs of money.

I understand your point, but I'm not sure that's completely true. Most people are still watching all the games through all sorts of streaming options, etc. It's all about eyeballs on screens. I'd be interested to know what the Networks would say about it. Did their contact increase with the extra week? In any event, it would still be better for the TEAM and the PLAYERS to have a single, consolidated bye-week.

The NFL is about maximizing opportunities its product is out there in visible, its why the combine is even a thing now. Shutting down your biggest piece of your product in the height of it's apex is borderline insanity. The NFL does not care about the players otherwise there would be more rest, no TNF or at minimum a more spaced out schedule for it, and 100 other things they do not do.
Mat68 Posted September 28, 2021 Posted September 28, 2021 Give Houston 3 weeks. I think Buffalo still rolls. David Mills doesn't have a shot against the defense. Buffalo scores 40 again. 1

Well I've not seen a single thing that I agree with Goodell on, so my jury is still out on how this longer season works out. At some point you're going to end up with a pile of injured players limping around or sitting out the playoffs. It might be this year. (Except for Brady of course....he's gonna live forever. 😉)

Two of our tougher games, KC and Tenn; games which could have an impact on seeding, are coming up. Forgetting the fact that they are back to back….again…..they also come after games which put us at a schedule disadvantage. 1. We play Wash coming off a mini-bye 2. We play Hou coming off a mini-bye Granted these teams aren’t great but still. 3. And most importantly, the NFL added an extra game to the schedule this year. It involved an inter-conference opponent that was not in the previous formula. Ours is Wash. So not only do we head into KC/Tenn after playing two teams off byes, but we’ve already played our extra game. I’m glad this is week 5/6 rather than say 11/12 but by then maybe KC and Tenn would have played an extra game too. This seems unfair. What team would you rather play when they are coming off a mini bye ( Houston or KC) or (Washington or New England). Chill out my guy.

Almost every year without fail we would get the Pats afterr their bye week. Another huge schedule issue was getting Pittsburgh for the first game. Big Ben was almost guaranteed to break down this year after a few games and sure enough he already has. Roy, as I live and breathe and if memory serves me correctly (even if it doesn't, so what, it's still good for this thread) I believe 3 times in 4 years we led the league in playing the most number of games after opponents' byes. Go 1 and 1 in the KC and Ten games and the schedule won't matter because we'll be favored in every game except Tampa and maybe NO (if they can play decently with Winston)on Thanksgiving. We just have to stay healthy.

So instead of Washington as our NFC extra team, you'd rather have the Packers like the Chiefs, the Seahawks like the Steelers, or the Saints for the Titans. Taking into account mini byes is almost impossible and it worked out pretty well for us with the WFT and not exactly scared of the Texans. Lastly, how are the schedulers supposed to know how good a team is the next year? Seriously, The 49ers were in the SB in 2020 and with injuries was an easy defeat even though they had a top 5 defense. You're grasping at something that is not there. Two years ago, did the schedulers know for sure we would go from 10-6 to 13-3 and have the 2nd most scored pts in the league. Sorry bud, but its coincidence. That's all. I wasn't writing this sarcastically as you're not alone with these theories as we see them posted all the time. I'm just giving you more info. that's all so wasn't knocking on you.
SlimShady'sSpaceForce Posted September 28, 2021 Posted September 28, 2021 Houston @ KC on SNF @ Tenn on MNF Almost reversed from last season’s debacle If the PPP go down people will ask what’s wrong with _ _ _ _
Big Blitz Posted September 28, 2021 Posted September 28, 2021 Tennessee is about to become a dumpster fire. Never draft Julio in fantasy. He's hurt. Seems to have zero chemistry (shocker) with Tannehill. AJ Brown is out again. They stink, sorry they just don't impress me and are in the actual worst division in the NFL. Unfortunately we play the Chiefs here when they are losing.......which could also be a good thing. Our schedule is quite favorable imo.
DrW Posted September 28, 2021 Posted September 28, 2021 Do you think that there is an equivalent of the OP on a Chief's web site complaining that they are in a disadvantage because the Bills played one fewer of their "regular" games?
Ethan in Cleveland Posted September 28, 2021 Posted September 28, 2021 KC started Browns Ravens Chargers - that is about as tough a start as anyone has had. All legit playoff contenders
