Are Darnold and Fields Going to Make Trubisky a Hot Commodity This Offseason?

I get that the Bills don't have a ton of skin in this particular question (other than a decent comp pick) but if you look at what Darnold is doing in Carolina and how the Bears are in the process of destroying Fields, I can see how a team could be very interested in Trubisky this offseason, especially if the Bills showcase him in a meaningless end of season game and he looks decent in said meaningless game.  Trubisky in Chicago looked a helluva lot better than Darnold did in NY.

Would love to see some type of handshake agreement for sign and trade.  We did Mitch a solid here to an extent, maybe he can return it while still getting him to the team he wants.  Far fetched but Beane is a wizard

The way Trubisky played against his old team in the preseason was a showcase in itself, but I agree that more time with mop-up duty (and let's hope for a lot of that) will make him even more attractive. On top of that, he's working with a staff that turned Josh from a raw prospect to a top-five QB in just a few years.

 

Mitch will get a number of offers after this season. He'll be able to choose the team that he thinks will give him the best chance to succeed.

Why trade him? If he signs for good money somewhere after the season it will greatly help our compensation formula. I forsee many vets let go this year signing on other teams (Hughes, Addison, Trubisky etc).

Why in the world would he do a sign & trade, that makes absolutely no sense on his part.  He is a free agent, if Beane wants to retain his rights he is going to have to franchise him which is obviously is not going to happen.

Yes. And Trubisky is going to get another look as a starter from various teams just by way of everyone finally waking up and seeing that Nagy and his staff suck.

I am still shocked the bears didnt keep him and dump Nagy. Mitch made the playoffs twice in 4 years with the Bears. Yesterday they had 1 yard passing with a rookie QB

That football team we played yesterday looks like a prime landing spot. I have battled with bears fans all offseason about I wouldn’t want Nagy anywhere near Fields. I really dislike the guy. For an “offensive” coach his offenses are generally pretty trash outside mitchs rookie year. If you know your offensive line is complete trash you’d think you’d incorporate more screens and slants etc etc to help the rookie out and get the ball out of his hand in time.

Yeah, I think Nagy and Pace are both out at year's end. They have really stunk up the joint as far as team building and game planning overall.

I think a team looking for a vet stop gap will likely take on Trubisky. But I don't see him getting a massive contract or being a hot commodity. WFT, Texans, Steelers, Broncos, Lions, Giants and a few other QB needy teams might sign Mitch to a one year deal to compete with a rookie drafted up high or play band aid for one season. But I don't see any team going fully on board with Mitch as their sole QB option either. It was smart for Mitch to take the one year deal here as a backup and improve his confidence game and stock.

I did look that up earlier this year.  It is complicated but $ is important but also snap count % is factored.
