Quote

Allen’s first focus when he reaches the locker room is toweling off and beginning to hydrate. It takes a few minutes for Daboll to reach the locker room from the coaches’ booth, so “it's not like we walk in there and it's X's and O's right away,” Allen said.

While the halftime break might be short, it’s crucial in the quarterback’s mind.

“It does give us a chance to go in and talk in a different setting, a more intimate setting. No cameras, nothing is around, so guys can be themselves and say what they need to say,” he said. “The OC is upstairs, so it's a chance for him to talk to the entire team and explain what we're thinking, how we're going to attack this next half. We've got some of the best in the business when it comes to doing that.”

After reading that article and Micah Hyde’s interview I just picture a locker room full of dudes eating PBJs, drinking juice boxes and Josh Allen’s mom walking around handing out orange slices.

Didn't the Mannings say halftime adjustments are a myth? Apparently not?

adjustments are made during the game. If the coaches see something they don't wait till halftime to change it. It's why the players look at tablets and videos when on the sideline.

Thought the article kind of supported that as very little time to make any changes.  Just maybe a couple small things.

It is really, really, really hard to change a gameplan at half time. You are always tweaking. I know a guy who used to be an NFL position coach who now lives in England and is married to a Brit and he said to me in his years coaching (and he wasn't an NFL position coach for long... 4 or 5 years I think but worked a bit on college before that) changing gameplan at halftime never worked. We talked about it some after the AFCCG last year when the Bills did come out 2nd half and try and play a bit more man than they are used to on the backend. He said basically if that's what you have practiced all week, fine, but if you have planned all week to beat them mainly by maintaining zone discipline then you should stay with that because it isn't as simple as just saying "okay now we are playing man" there are all sorts of "what happens if they do this?" type scenarios that you just will not have gone through.

Halftime is tweak some stuff, maybe look at what playcalls have and haven't worked and try and call it a bit different but you cannot switch gameplan successfully at half time very often.

Seems like it’d take virtually the entire halftime break for the coaches to get down to the locker rooms and back up to the press box. They must have to sprint to get there and back. I hope they don’t have to pee!
