Great insight! Thanks again, @HappyDays

I truly hope our fringe fans who proclaim “If Allen plays like crap again this week, accept that he’s not good” watch these and develop from being witless couch potatoes into someone who’s takes have even a teeny little merit.

I know. I’m hoping for too much.. 🤨

Chand, I couldn’t agree more.  Sharing for some guys the breakdowns by the Athletic guys or just little excerpts as some don’t get it, the cover 1 or other all 22’s, are so helpful especially junkies like myself in the Bills.  I can reasoned POV from guys who live to breakdown tape and have the time to do it.  It also is educational for casual fans so they know more about why some things are happening.

These along with Shady’s maps, unis, posts and other breakdowns I see as some of the most meaningful to have a discussion.  I’m not critical of just the opinion threads, but I almost always see a more robust conversation on the former threads vs. the latter.

Actually impressed with Epenesa. Whether he's getting the actual sack or not, guy is disrupting the pocket & making his presence felt.

Another thing of note is Star having an impact. The D played well in week 1, but week 2's defense looked like that top-5 D we had prior to last year. I know I've had my doubts about Star's commitment, but we just look better when he's playing.

Here's the film review on the offense:

What I took from this?  Darryl Williams had one of the worst games I’ve ever seen by an offensive lineman - just an absolute disgrace of a performance and he deserves to be benched if he does that again.  Josh is better at handling pressure from his left than his right, it seems, and Williams was so bad - atrociously bad - Allen never got comfortable enough to set his feet in the pocket.

Again: Darryl Williams has been a disgrace this season and I suspect they’re already regretting that signing.  I’m furious after watching those replays.

Having no recollection of the games from his rookie season when he was actually a dominant player.........that was BY FAR the most energy that I've ever seen Star Lotulelei play with.   He's generally been quite satisfied to just slow dance with his blocker at the LOS.   He was actually impactful in this game.   But the downside of being more active appears to be injury.   He has already missed a game with a calf injury and suffered a groin injury in Miami that's limiting him.   So his improvement might end up short lived but I'd rather he played hard for 7 and missed 10 others injured than be the Polynesian Pylon for 17 again.

Fantastic! Thank you, OP.

So, how the Hell do we afford to keep Taron? We’ve nurtured this kid from his professional infancy and are now rewarded with a premier DB -just in time to lose him???

Does he have an aspiring music career?  Pegulas could sign him to a carefully worded contract at their recording studio.

It's funny how a contract year can sharpen a players focus.

After signing new contract?   Different story.

I'm hoping he just needs to round back into form..........and hopefully it doesn't take until late in the season.

I don't know where these guys learned all this detail (and it does bother me a bit how they love to show off all their football jargon), but my eyes tell me that what they're talking about is correct.

I learn a lot from this stuff, and I'm happy that it gets posted weekly.

The Scouting Academy

https://scoutingacademy.com/

"Our Film Evaluation Course is a 16-week curriculum designed to teach you the process of scouting. Learn from NFL Execs and Coaches from the comfort of your home, on your schedule."

Pretty cool, actually. I've looked into enrolling myself at times. After completing all of the courses offered, a person is theoretically able to go from the basic level of football knowledge most fans have to being knowledgeable enough to be employed by a college or pro team (provided, of course, that they're sharp and dedicated enough to apply themselves to the lessons taught).

What a time to be a football fan!

I don't like the Bills TE's or FB options but playing a lot of 21 or 12 personnel is just better long term, IMO.    More big plays in the passing game because there is more space for the Bills receivers to work.   More pass blocking assistance for an OL that clearly hasn't gelled.   And perhaps most importantly the WR don't take the beating that they do when they try to run empty and use the passing game as a replacement for the run game.    The dink and dunk gets your skill players beat up.

Sure. But playing football doesn't teach you everything about scouting all the positions and analyzing plays like a coach. I'm pretty sure he referenced some course he took a while back.

He did the scouting academy I believe. Its run by a few former GMs and scouts. Impressive program

Cover1 does amazing breakdowns. What puzzles me, is that even if the opponents vary, the schemes used vary, it's kind of weird in some games some players perform so much better or so badly. Feliciano for example had an awesome game yet awful on game 1.

Milano is a proven stud, period. IMO he was the best Bills last Sunday. Epenasa and Rousseau are showing so much potential. If the Bills D are a terror, combine this with the scary offense and WOW. I think the LBs and DBs are very good, the DL was the weak point. But if they are strong too, that's a top 5 defense in the making with a top 5 offense. Please don't get blocked punts and it's all good ha ha

Thanks.  Mike Martz, Wade Phillips, Bobby April on their faculty.  Pretty cool.

Good points.  On the other hand, going wide often makes for easier releases of the line and assures that the defense is spread.

A good mix is best.
