wjag Posted September 20, 2021 Posted September 20, 2021 I'm not in the habit of making excuses, but I will say this. Buffalo OLINE played all game in the Miami heat, in the second game of the season. It's easy to forget that OLINE play 100% of the snaps while DLINE are typically rotated out throughout the game. Perhaps, just perhaps the OLINE were feeling the effects of an early season game, in the heat. 2

They just played two top defenses, potentially top 50 historically good defenses, and should have won both games, with a struggling offense (that blocked punt team screwed things up). Give them a minute to figure out how they are being played and make adjustments. LMAO
JMF2006 Posted September 20, 2021 Posted September 20, 2021 I would take him over the Steelers or Dolphin tackles any day. You want a poor performance watch those guys.

Correct .The same also goes for Allen, WRs etc etc. Every year is its own entity in the NFL. Can’t just put last season on repeat. Some fans seem to want it that way, but that’s just not how it works. 1
TPS Posted September 20, 2021 Posted September 20, 2021 Also, somewhere in the digital void someone on a Chiefs' board is calling for Mahomes to be benched for throwing his first September INT and losing to the Ravens....

Three in their prime all pros on the dline, and Hayden and Fitzpatrick in the secondary. If they stay healthy that defense is insanely good. Alualu out for the year with a broken ankle, TJ Watt left the Raiders game with a groin injury.
BigBuff423 Posted September 20, 2021 Posted September 20, 2021 I don't know why Williams is struggling yet, but I wonder if it has more to do with lining up with Ford next to him as opposed to last year? We hear, and observe, how crucial it is for line mates to play together to develop the chemistry needed to pass of stunts and blitzes, maybe this is one area that is a secret contributor to the challenges we've seen. Also, TJ Watt was DPOY for a reason, so those struggles made sense especially with it being the first game. But I expect to see marked improvement from game 2 to game 3, like we did from game 1 to game 2....they (Williams & Dawkins in particular) need to keep getting better.

Dolphins D is a solid D for this year, but poster seems to be basing it on one element, its secondary and arguably they don't even have the best that in the league. Pittsburgh better finish number 1 in defense this season to even be considered in the top 50. Quite frankly, I don't see any dominant defenses currently in the NFL. 2

The dolphins secondary is really, really good. That one might be a bit of a stretch in terms of top 50, but as far as matchup problems for this Bills offense, I would say absolutely this would be one of the 50 hardest defenses for them to match up against in the history of the league (yes I know how much the game has changed). 53 minutes ago, thurst44 said: He might not be that far off with Pittsburgh, but it's a long shot based on Highsmith and players in the secondary beyond Fitzpatrick coming into their own. Pittsburgh definitely has a top 3-5 defense in the league this year.... Top 50 all time??? Wait till the dust settles Miami dolphins??? Gtfoh ...

Based on the first two games, I'd argue our D could be dominant... a far cry from top 50 ;).

I'm just saying it's not a ludicrous notion that it could be. They have an insane amount of talent on defense and if it all. My opinon on the Dolphins D was pretty clear, but to be clearer, they are arguably not even top 10 this year. However, they were among the tops yardage-wise last year (pretty sure they were one when we laid a 56-spot on them).
machine gun kelly Posted September 20, 2021 Posted September 20, 2021 I think D. Williams has a three year extension, but maybe they can release early if that is the assumption. Guys it’s two games. We waited for a solid RT for years and in January, everyone was convince it was Williams. The Brown as the next RT is news to me. I’ve read repeatedly he was groomed for swing tackle and maybe he is a RT, but in two weeks? How about everyone including me calm down and let them get into a groove. The team just blanked the fish by 35 and the defense looked great. How nice was it to see Wallace make a pick after a stupid taunting call? How nice was it to see GROOT and Epenesa play with power? How nice to see Oliver look like the guy we always wanted? There is so much to be happy about and we ran well. Allen will settle down. He played exceptional last year for 16 of 19 games including the playoffs. He’ll be fine. 1
Bermuda Triangle Posted September 20, 2021 Posted September 20, 2021 David Carr carved up a historically dominant defense yesterday. 1

He's a complete liability for our oline. Wow, what a classic case of early season over reaction. It's been 2 games my friend, let's see how it goes before giving him the boot. And as others have noted - who do you replace him with ???

Week to week team and player performance can vary. Hot streaks and cold ones. Williams has struggled, as has our franchise QB, but after two games I'm not going to worry, especially after a 35-0 W. Keep stacking up the wins early and get everyone peaking in December. That should be the target.. 1 1

Yesterday we destroyed the Dolphins while the O-line starters played close to 100% of the snaps in sweltering heat with 100% humidity. Last season, Williams was the best RT we've had in ages-- maybe 20 years. And now you want to bench Williams for... Spencer Brown, I suppose? Ryan Bates? By the way... did you notice how Dawkins played against the Steelers? Or Mongo? Why give them a pass? In my opinion, the O-line improved from week one, and will continue to improve as the season progresses, barring injury.
LABILLBACKER Posted September 20, 2021 Posted September 20, 2021 Won't deny Daryl is playing poorly. Have no clue what the deal is but I'm tired of seeing Josh have to constantly slid left because of pressure. 2
