He's a 28 yr old journeyman backup QB on his 4th team. He had a really nice game in the playoffs last year. It's fun to hype up guys like this because they're easy to root for, but they rarely turn into anything at this age.

He's a flawed QB and Washington is a flawed team. I know a lot of fans are going to hype the WFT into world-beaters, but there's no excuse to lose a home game to these guys.

Did you watch the game last week against the Giants?

That was an eye opener for me. At minimum, it showed that the playoff game wasn't a one-time fluke.  He was legit good last week - very precision in his passing, and pretty clutch late in the game.

Obviously, he needs to string together more games like that to show that he can do it consistently, but w/ a small sample size he doesn't seem like a QB to take lightly.

It does bug me that when ranking D statistics such as Points Against that Special Teams and Offensive scores against are included.

If you are going to have all these statistics just use the points against the actual defense.

I mean how hard can that be?

I hear what you’re saying and it’s ok to make a separate category if you like, and I do that myself, but “team defense” is a “team” stat, after all. And when you get a punt blocked or have to defend a run back of any kind (fumble, INT, kick or punt), your team is technically playing defense in those situations.

I did. I thought he performed well but I just don't think highly of the Giants' D at all. He had a nice drive to end the game but that was only necessary because he threw a pick on the drive before when trying to force the ball to McLaurin.

After a loss to the Steelers the Bills have been handed an amazing gift -- not only are we healthy but we are in the midst of facing 3 backup QBs in a row. Possibly even a 3rd string QB against Houston.

Good teams, playoff teams, don't let these opportunities slip away. No excuses.

IMO it's stupid and just lazy statistics.  Teams don't add kickoff and punt returns to the offensive rushing yards.

It's no big thing but it does bug me.  LOL.

I was actually thinking about something similar to this yesterday… there’s gotta be an advanced stat that’s something like “Quality Points Against” for defenses.  Because obviously, if the opposing team runs a punt back to, say, our 22 - but then has to settle for a Field Goal - the defense did their job very well.

I totally understand and feel your frustration. It’s that pesky “team” stat idea. No, return yards aren’t added to O stats, but points scored on those returns are added to a team points scored stats.

His career? Come on. That's kind of unfair. Look at him since he's been with Washington. That's all that matters.

How is that unfair lol?

Okay, you’re right.  He has 4 TD’s in 3 games with the Redskins.  That’s great numbers.  Has anyone ever thrown 4 TD’s in a 3 game span in NFL history?

I didn't say he was the best QB in NFL history. Lol. I said he is not a scrub. Did you watch him in the playoff game or against the Giants last week? The guy can play football. He's a scrapper and a leader. I think we'll win, but it will probably be a frustrating game.

This isn't like we're facing Brandon Allen or Nate Sudfeld or something like that.

You said he had great numbers.  I’m still waiting on evidence on that.

If he’s as good as you are making him out to be, why didn’t he win the starting job over Fitzpatrick?

Well, his stats this year are certainly much better than Allen's!

Fitz has more experience, obviously, and was brought in to be the starter. Politics might play somewhat of a role. Fitz also may be better. That wouldn't mean that Heinecke sucks.

Fitz was brought into compete and won the job.  I guess Rivera wasn’t enamored with his great stats.

I never said Heinicke sucks.  I just questioned your statement that he had great stats.

All I want to know is how many points your scoring versus your opponents points. Total yards etc.. are pretty meaningless.
