Gen Z has been hoarding wealth since 2010. You probably know a few. These people “lease” iPhones for the family, a car for each kid. They’re also the ones that don’t let their kids outside in fear that someone will kidnap them. They have “play dates.” They text their children all day long and talk to them like they’re adults. I blame Disney Channel for most of this. Edited September 14, 2021 by Governor 1

No offense, but I take it you don't have kids, or at least haven't had younger kids for a long time. If you did you'd probably know that letting your kids run off by themselves to play with other kids in the neighborhood would make you a pariah at best; a subject of a child protective services investigation at worst. I had other parents criticize me because I let my 12 year old daughter and her friends unaccompanied at the mall under the condition that she sends me a selfie every half hour ...

I don’t understand where all this generation wealth is but I’m fine if the government takes it as long as they start with the billionaires who pass it on to 7 generations and rig the political system.

I will never live in a world that behaves that way. Lol. Look at what society has done to you. This is Irv’s fault. What A Mess Edited September 14, 2021 by Governor
Sundancer Posted September 15, 2021 Author Posted September 15, 2021 In the Covid thread, posters advocate not listening to their doctors on healthcare matters. In this thread, posters attack education. In all threads, PPP posters complain about how people in America are acting without sense. Just saying.
TSOL Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 Do boys and girls learn differently? Is some curriculum better suited to one gender or another? Standardized curriculum, makes about as much sense as making only one size shirt to fit everyone in the country. Similar to large sweeping social issues like vaccination., One policy to fit all is foolish. How about black children, do black children learn differently and respond to different teaching methods than others? And is there a gap? Standardized education is a nice baseline, but I feel it should be up to the parents to choose which educational path theyd like to see their kids follow. There are choices and options for parents when it comes to education for their kids, so while there may be differences in the way different children learn, i dont think that there is necessarily a gap. There are parents who prioritize education highly in their children and there are parents who dont. There isnt a gap between gender or color

As amusing as it is to watch people manipulate statistics to fit their narrative (has that taken over baseball as our new national past time yet?) Its also annoying to watch you generalize an entire demographic thread after thread. Remember when Tyrod Taylor was the passing completion percentage leader in the entire NFL? THAT is what generalized statistics get you. So guys are choosing video games while girls are choosing college, gotcha. Your wife is a very lucky woman now that she has you fully emasculated

If you don’t see shiftless men sitting at (their parents’) home, diving into Twitter conspiracies, abandoning their kids, playing fortnite, and smoking the now legal pot, you’re not paying much attention. Women are holding things together even more than normal.

Around 2000…..(lol) W let a bunch of private schools prey on our military and most desperate. These folks were promised the world and took out high interest private loans to attend schools that are now out of business or lost accreditation along the way. These are the loans being forgiven by Biden as we speak. These fly-by-night colleges all disappeared. Those degrees are worth less than an OJ Simpson rookie card. It gets worse than that. State universities started offering degrees in totally ridiculous fields like social media marketing, fashion design, animation, etc. and a whole host of others. Its no wonder kids don’t want to attend college. It’s been a total scam for 20 years. I have no issues with people going back to trades. It’s recession proof. Well now. I have two daughters with what you might consider worthless degrees. One is music theater, and with the pandemic there have been no auditions for 18 months. But her degree program taught her skills such as resilience and creativity so she right now is working in a writing position where she makes very good money with full benefits, and has plans to go back to grad school so she can get her MFA and run a theater department or organization. The other is pursuing a degree in music therapy, which happens to be a very hot degree for those interested in health care.

I have elementary school aged kids and live in a family oriented neighborhood. And i definitely dont see as many kids playing outside as i used to. 1
Tiberius Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 It's been just over 100 years since women got the right to vote. Thirty years since the Violence Against Women Act was signed by Bill Clinton and women are beginning to find their mojo on a wide scale. Culture has caught up to the promise of equality. Men are having trouble ditching the toxic masculinity baggage, though. 15 minutes ago, TSOL said: I see kids in general staying in and in front of screens more now. I was an engineer and had grad school in it too. So clearly a "practical" degree by many accounts. I pretty much hated the degrees and the work but I did it because I was locked into this practical model of thinking. But this idea that an English or Classics or History or Philosophy degree is useless misses the point that yes, actually, learning to think and write critically is important. No, there are not many philosophy jobs. (WTF would that even look like?) But there are lots of jobs and people who have shown that they can communicate, read, and think critically can get those jobs and move to other jobs. My mom was an English major. She writes government proposals in her field. My cousin was a history major. He is CEO of a business consulting company. My brother is an engineer who works in child care (!). My wife was an economics major who is a social worker. The "useless" degrees are not always making you into what you're studying. Yes to the points others made, if you're studying philosophy, I hope someone in your life is making sure that you understand the economics of paying 70K/year at a private university and your earning potential especially early on, but by all means study what you want. Life is short. Anyone can be happy. And despite all this, men are not going into trades or going to college. It's a problem. 8 minutes ago, Tiberius said: Men are having trouble ditching the toxic masculinity baggage, though. Fo sho This place could use a more representative opinion base. OrangeBills Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 This is simply a function of the of the overreach of the Federal Gov't into our lives with Regulations that, surprise(!), lead to societal inefficiencies Title 9 was enacted when the split was 54% Male/46% Female...now it's an egregious graduation split of 65%/35% the other way, but we don't seem to care. Also, the Feds ingeniously felt that subsidizing the Consumer would help Collegiate finance, when of course it only really helped the Supplier (because Gov't is stupid). So here we are, in a world where among other things Men's Sports are limited because of Federal laws and men are creatively being added to Women's sports rosters to help balance out a disingenuous law.

Isn’t this what the libs want?? Can’t think of a better way to dismantle the patriarchy. wanting to be educated is what causes one to educate themselves and in today’s world anyone can do it from anywhere. College buys a ticket to to enter the workforce a few rungs higher on the ladder and that’s the economic trade off. A lot of people do this math very poorly. Then most people then spend decades saving money so someday they don’t have to work any more.

No. Women are just more motivated and empowered now by personal ambition.
TSOL Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 Men will be fine. The highly educated coastal feminists will always need someone to fix their cars, their roofs, build them houses, provide security, stuff like that. Physical stuff, the kind of stuff guys are good at.
