Cynical
What a bizarre story this is. https://www.complex.com/sports/bishop-sycamore-interviews-roy-johnson/ https://sports.yahoo.com/everything-we-know-about-bishop-sycamore-the-high-school-that-scammed-espn-into-airing-a-football-game-211844590.html
Gugny
Well in fairness, the Bills fielded a fake NFL team for about 17 years. 1

thenorthremembers
and they still lost by 58. If you think this is odd, check out their wrestling team. And no I am not making a joke. They have a guy who looks like a WWE Superstar.
May Day 10
Bishop Sycamore is a perfect name for a made up football prep school
ExiledInIllinois
Yup to all this! BUT what blows my mind... They still gotta field teams. Are these people like Jim Jones, Jonestown follower types? Why aren't they talking to them?
May Day 10
It sounds like it may be a lot of kids from broken homes with little parent involvement. Its also likely there are parents who want/think their kid is and can be a top NCAA prospect and are desperate for this opportunity. id be willing to bet that this Johnson character is insanely manipulative and a master at telling people what they want to hear. Once people who are somewhat desperate for something are in a bad situation thinking/hoping it is something else, they put the blinders on to all the warning signs. this is the best football con since
SirAndrew
The fact that other schools didn’t ask any questions blows my mind just as much as Bishop Sycamore themselves. It says a lot about high level high school football in this country, and its level of shadiness. IMG played them once last year, prior to this ESPN disaster. It was also a blowout last season against a team that had guys playing both sides of the ball, and dudes with the same number. IMG didn’t think or care something was off ? Then they claim to be a private charter school that uses a Catholic school name with no affiliation, and make up a ridiculous name for a Bishop. Remarkable how no one asked questions.
