I think they just weren’t gonna keep 7 DEs no matter what.

I’ll echo others in saying I wish Addison were the one to go instead.

I wonder who takes Bam’s role on special teams, and whether this means they’ll keep six instead of five linebackers.

You can only keep so many ST focused players when you have SB aspirations and need guys that can actually contribute in live game action, that's why I also think guys like Taiwan Jones are going to be gone soon as well.

As for Addison, I wouldn't be surprised if he essentially this year's Trent Murphy by midseason (assume he is in fact safe). Because no way we are wasting reps on him the glut of young talent that is ready to contribute out of the gate.

Interesting. Johnson has looked good, would much rather have traded or cut Addison, who at this point brings very little to the table.

They should be getting Kuechly or packaging towards McC:cry:

How is this a discussion?

People here have a preference over the coach and gm who just took us to a conference championship? The guys who get to see him work every day, his daily one on ones, work ethic, culture fit with the team, etc... Sorry they didn't include you in the discussion.

Flipping a 7th rounder ST specialist for a 6th is a steal. Go get the next guy in 2022.

Panthers Bills direct pipeline

Normally flows south to north however? 🧐 As much as I don’t like letting him go, Beane has more than earned benefit of the doubt though.

Respectfully, I disagree.

Special teams reps ARE "live game action".

A big kick return -- or a tackle on a kick return that prevents a touchdown -- can be the difference between a win and a loss.

I believe that special teams will always be important to Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott, and rightly so. There are three phases in football, and all three matter.

How dare people have a discussion on a message board.

We can say Addison all day long, but none of the lower echelon teams would have wanted him and Beane hates to eat a dead-cap hit....

I didn’t think he would make the team.  Great special teams guy but never thought he was much at DE….and it’s a crowded unit.

He looked very good in preseason action, seemed to have a couple of snaps a game where the tackle barely touched him as he blew past, winning immediately off the snap.

I may be wrong in my recollection but Wasn't Beane just praising Johnson the other night leading many to assume he was a lock.., or maybe now we know why.

He's flashed in preseason before then the regular season comes and he's invisible. I didn't expect him to make the team and I'm sure this is why they were talking him up so much.
