24 more cuts by tomorrow

I must say, I prefer the old days of gradual cut downs, but at least we have a two week break. It’s going to be CHAOS to have so many people available all at once.

I trust our FO to scout this better than most, and while I suspect other teams sign more of our guys than we pick up, I could see us finding at least one gem in this mess. Maybe a CB???

I think it’s a situation that people keep checking, but you can’t report or discuss the news…….until you have the news. I keep checking myself, I can’t help it.   🤷‍♀️

  • Hapless Bills Fan changed the title to Bills cuts to get to 53 [trying to keep current info in the OP]

Tell you guys what, I just updated the OP to link Sal Capaccio's spreadsheet that he seems to be updating, and to add other transactions.

Unless @YoloinOhio gets mad and hurts me, maybe that will help by putting the current info right up front in the first post.

Works?

I think for news like this, it would help if the main post was updated on cuts. this is spot on.

I agree. Fromm clearly outperformed Webb.

A blind man could see that

OK, will give you credit for clever name!

Webb was given very little to work with against Green Bay.  Even Chi game, he didn't get much PT except with scrubs in the game.  1st game against Lions Webb out-preformed.

I think there's also a very good chance the Bills feel they know what they have in Webb so didn't even bother giving him any meaningful snaps past two games.  Also may be they want him on their PS so don't give him anything to generate interest from other teams.

With Fromm may have been they felt, give the kid a chance and showcase him to other teams, thanks him a bit for what he dealt with last season.

On the other hand this will make for a rather boring Labor Day weekend.

He’s tailor made for a practice squad spot.

I wonder if they could make him assistant QBs coach and then if he’s needed they could activate him?  They probably have rules against it, like needing to announce retirement or something.

Does Beane finalize a trade for Fromm at 3:45 am?

If you are another GM, what do you give up for Fromm?  He was drafted in the fifth round.  By all reports he does not have a NFL caliber arm.  A seventh?  At best he is a 3rd string QB.  I'd have no issue giving up a 7th round pick for a QB project. Not sure I would go much higher than that and I would instead take my chnaces he gets released.

Fromm is a cut and resign to the PS. Anything else and I’d be shocked.

They could; you just don’t see it cause assistant QB coaches make very little compared to a PS player. He would just have to sign anywhere. He’ll be a coach of that I’m certain. But while he still can “play” it makes way more sense for HIM to be on a team as a player in any capacity.

Conversation at 3:45 am

Beane: “what are you wearing Jake Fromm”

Jake:“khakis”

Beane: “great you are getting on a flight to Ny .. you are a Jet”

Jake: “That sounds hideous”

Beane: “well yeah .. it’s the Jets”

The NFL has rules against this to prevent teams from hiding players.

Denver wanted to activate the QB quality control coach last year when all the QBs were placed on COVID and the NFL wouldn’t allow it.

There was a nice article about it - I will try to find it - but basically it was done in the past as a way to pay players and not lose them, but keep them on the team and the NFL banned it.

Not the original article, but mentions the rule in here.
