Wrote on here a few days ago Texans would likely cut Shaq Lawson and Andre Roberts.  Roberts is old and has virtually no potential trade value.

If they were to cut Roberts, do you think we pick him back up?

Wait....when did he get traded to Houston and what for?

Cause he didn’t play up to his contract that he got In Miami last year, sounds like he’s not doing well in Houston. I wonder if Beane and McD would consider bringing him back or if he would want to come back

Can’t get on the field in Houston? 😶

Lawson is actually a great fit for the the defensive rotation.  But there really isn’t a spot for him, unless you want to cut Mario Addison and I’m not sure that will happen.  I’d rather have the DE’s on the Bills roster over Lawson

Personally, I didn’t care for him. Never lived up to his Draft status and his best year was his contract year. Hasn’t returned to that form and is too much of a I-Me-Mine kinda guy for my liking.

I don’t wish ill will, just don’t want him back here.

For a mid-first round defensive lineman, you would expect better production especially when it comes to pass rush.

The one thing he does really well is set the edge, and I remember him playing great against Lamar Jackson.   Still I think DE is the one position group that doesn’t need an upgrade.

Maybe not but Roberts would be welcome back I would think.

I never heard why he left.  Does anyone know?

Bad Ownership.

Texans have a pastor who thinks he is the owner, an owner that thinks he is a pastor, a GM who thinks he is a coach and a coach that would like to retire.

It really started to crumble giving Bill O Brien the Coach and GM positions.   Had the idiot owner Cal McNair had any brains O Brien would have been fired on the spot for trading DeAndre Hopkins for a washed out running back who may also get cut this year.

The stated reason for trading Hopkins was that the Texans couldn't afford to pay him, Watt, and Watson.

THAT sure worked out, didn't it.  Watt's also gone, and Watson is in limbo.

Maybe that's it.  But with all their other problems, outbidding another team for a returner doesn't seem like the place to start.

So lemme get this right:

He leaves a playoff team for an inferior one, signs a 4 year deal worth about 40 million, then gets traded to the downward spiralling Texans, and has now been downgraded to a backup?

What a fall from grace.

I hope he got a lot of his money up-front.  He probably won't be playing the full four years at this rate.

Let's say you can sign Roberts for whatever his vet minimum is and lets say we can afford it. Do you do it?

Yes, I think so.  The other options on the team all have question marks.  Roberts was dependable AND a real threat to score.  He's a year older but he didn't seem to be tailing off last season.

Vet minimum, and he may have a job..,, 😁

Lawson's game got much better in his contract year.  He basically pulled a Dareus, or tried to.  But that was then, and now the Bills have three great looking first-two-round DEs.  No room/need for Lawson.

Jordan Phillips is another story.  I think we could use a big body, active guy at DT.  Star can't play every down, and no one else seems to be able to hold up the interior of the line.

If Lawson gets traded, he will be on his 4th in 2 years.  He’s NFL version of Kenny Lofton.  If you guys don’t remember Kenny Lofton, he was a baseball player that played for every major league team at least twice.

I think Ryan Fitzpatrick's lead is safe.

Texans finish with a better record than Jaguars.   I think they beat them week 1.

Wouldn't that be a Texan-style move?  Lose next year's first draft pick right off the bat.

Phillips is not the kind of guy you can rely on to hold the line, though.

I hope you're not counting out the Jets.

I know the Jags got Lawrence but that’s not saying much.

Good thing he got paid by Miami. I never thought he was that bad. Maybe not a good scheme fit? Where’s Rex when you need him

Not sure why you’d need him, but I’d take a closer look at any creepy guys hanging out outside of Nashville pedicure shops?

Sign Roberts, cut McKenzie (his antics have become a distraction to the team and it's obviously rubbing McD the wrong way)

Arguably our 4th best WR last season and was tearing up training camp and you want to cut him for an aging Kick returner? I like Roberts but no way am I cutting an actual weapon for a one trick pony.

He was a UFA and Houston gave him a very nice deal for what he is. Beane actually said that at the time, he didn’t know what the cap space was actually going to be and he didn’t think they would be able to accommodate with all the deals they had in motion. At this point they could though…
