I don't care what Tom Brady has to say about anymore than I care about what you and a hundred others have had to say about the hit because in today's NFL...wait for it...that hit is called a penalty 11/10 times and anyone surprised to see a flag on that play hasn't been watching football for the past 5 years.  Tom Brady would be flipping the f@#$ out if someone popped his helmet off.

I have no interest in discussing for the 1,000th time whether that hit should be a penalty. Fact is, it will be called a penalty every single time and guys who make millions of dollars need to understand that it will be called every single time and people who call themselves football fans need to learn that it will be called every single time.  I do not want to see role players on this team racking up 15 yard personal fouls just so a few of you can rant about the good old days and how todays game is two hand touch in comparison.

Not really my point, but OK. I just thought you might find it interesting. Brady never said it wasn't a penalty, btw.

The hit was clearly not dirty.  Clean hit, but penalty-worthy.

Fields NEVER saw him coming. If he did he takes off running and Smith never touches him.  He didn’t lower his helmet but it was helmet to helmet contact which is illegal in the NFL.

what he should have done is went lower, he was way way to high to not expect the little yellow flag to come out.

Just a point here, in Bill Belichick's own words about a helmet-to-helmet hit on Allen that drew a penalty but not a fine.  If the link doesn't take you to the right place, it's at 27:30.  Belichick doesn't say "what (Jones) should have done is went lower, he was way way too high to not expect the little yellow flag to come out".

Belichick says "he did what we coached him to do, and if that's a penalty we need to change how we're coaching"

Also listen to the (Boston media I assume) "take" on it as revealed by how he asks the question.

Now apply that to Andre's hit on Fields.  He didn't lead with his helmet, etc etc.

I'm not quarreling with the penalty, but I think the fine is excessive and influenced by the fact that a loosely-fastened helmet came flying off.

No it wasn't. Smith lowered his head towards Field's chest. Fields at the last minute lowered his head, making Smith's helmet contact the bottom of Fields face mask.

Good point.  In fact, the way Fields was dressed, he was pretty much asking for it..

I’d love to but video isn’t available and I don’t have an hour sit and watch it all on YouTube.

My point is simple, in today’s NFL that hit will get a fine as well as the personal foul penalty MINIMUM.  You do it against Bray,Mahomes, Insert Face of NFL here and you will probably get suspended.   That’s the simple truth of it NOW.  It’s been this way for years.

If you go to Youtube and advance to 27:30 as stated in the post to which you are replying, you will find Bill Belichek's remarks about a similar hit on a QB where the defensive player did not lead with his helmet, but hit the QB in the helmet.  If you go a bit back from that, you can see several views of the hit.  It will literally take you less time than it took to post your response.

My point is simple: it has not uniformly been that way for years, and your head football coach does not appear to think it should even be a penalty (or else, he coaches his players to commit penalties, your choice)

I illustrated my point with a visual example.
