Not being smartass or anything, honestly don't know Lesnar didn't play football for a decade... Got hit by a van after the combine and STILL made the Vikings practice squad They wanted him to play in NFL Europe and he said no way He was definitely way closer to making it than people think He went to Training camp with a broken jaw and lower body injuries and made the PS

That's why I mentioned him since he basically is only one I can think of. Although he got on PS for a short time, main point is that wrestling apparently didn't translate that well for him I'd assume. Edited August 12, 2021 by Sheneneh Jenkins
Mikey152 Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 (edited) The most successful true transition (ie no college football experience), IMO, was Carlton Haselrig. He made a probowl. He and Neal (the other true wrestler only who had success in the NFL) both were heavyweights and both played guard. Edited August 12, 2021 by Mikey152

I'm sure the only way he was competing was because of his wrestling base He didn't have the technical football skills Of course it's crazy to think that any wrestler could play football.. but a football player with a wrestling base is definitely an advantage... Because they understand leverage and hand fighting 1

Just thought that if it translated so well like that, then who are the ones that did. You'd think there would be a few if it did translate that well. https://nwhof.org/news/top-10-wrestlers-who-played-in-nfl McDermott being a former wrestler seems to really like guys who used to wrestle. Harrison Phillips for example. https://www.stack.com/a/harrison-phillips-wrestling/ 1

Got to have that football skill, knowledge, speed etc more than anything. Maybe I got the wrong impression from other poster 1
ticketssince61 Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 Then there was Ernie Ladd (RIP) that went from Pro Football to WWF and excelled at both From Wikipedia Ernest Ladd (November 28, 1938 – March 10, 2007), nicknamed "The Big Cat", was an American professional football player and professional wrestler. A standout athlete in high school, Ladd attended Grambling State University on a basketball scholarship before being drafted in 1961 by the San Diego Chargers of the American Football League (AFL). Ladd found success in the AFL as one of the largest players in professional football history at 6′9″ and 290 pounds. He helped the Chargers to four AFL championship games in five years, winning the championship with the team in 1963. He also had stints with the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Oilers. Ladd took up professional wrestling during the AFL offseason, and after a knee injury ended his football career turned to it full-time in 1969. As a professional wrestler, Ladd became one of the top heels in the business. For the majority of his career, he played a villainous character who would arrogantly taunt both opponents and crowds. Ladd feuded with many popular wrestlers of the time, including Wahoo McDaniel, André the Giant, Bobo Brazil, Dusty Rhodes, and Mr. Wrestling, before retiring from the ring in 1986. Ladd was inducted into the San Diego Chargers Hall of Fame in 1981, the Grambling State University Hall of Fame in 1989, and the WWF Hall of Fame in 1995. 1

LabattBlue Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 (edited) When Tim Krumrie was the DL coach for the Bills, didn’t rookies or draft prospects have to go through his wrestling test? Might be mixing him up with someone else. Edited August 12, 2021 by BTB
US Egg Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 No MMA options. Now that takes guts. NFL or WWE pay better.

This guy was up against the wall, and came through in the clutch to win gold. We got nothing to lose giving this guy a look. He's a winner, and tough as nails. My lack of any wrestling experience whatsoever has outted me here...haha cheers man! Yeah great end to the match and looks like he has all the athleticism, toughness, and intangibles you'd want! 1
Might Rather Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 https://sports.yahoo.com/report-bills-reached-olympic-gold-150406209.html Quote The Bills front office will leave no stone unturned in search of talent. Gotta love it, McD and Co will do anything to win.

I think it's an experiment worth trying.

dollars 2 donuts Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 I would be just as happy if they had turned two former QBs who ended up being TEs into serviceable additions to the Bills. Logan Thomas has turned into a keeper in Washington and Tyree Jackson is showing something special early on in Philly.

I agree it doesn't prepare you for the NFL because football is a special and difficult sport in its self but if you can win an olympic gold medal you are a pretty tough dude mentally and physically.
