I know at least a few peeps here like the CFL.  2021 Schedule is below, opener is on ESPN 2 tonight  with Hamilton at Winnipeg at 8:30et

I just like it b4 the NFL starts for real. Love the everybody in motion plays.  Be nice if Hamilton finally cashes in on the Cup!

Might be a tough start to the season for the Tabbies.  Kicker couldn't get tonight off from Home Depot Centennial Parkway store.

In the chaos of selling a house and moving, I completely missed any CFL news. So I truly appreciate you posting this.

 

I love the blue collar nature of the CFL. None of these guys are millionaires, they are just hard working dudes that love football.

Depends which city the team was from.  Ottawa was the Rough Riders, Regina Saskatchewan is the home of the Roughriders.

Back when there were two Rough Riders teams - Ottawa had the log-riding Rough Riders, while Saskatchewan had the cattle-riding Roughriders.

I miss the era when uniforms got major reworks every couple of years, especially in the CFL East.  Sort of a 'make work' project for the Canadian garment industry.  I swear the Argos changed their helmet design on a yearly basis.

I'm Canadian and I can't stand the CFL. 

 

A bunch of scrubs who can't even stick on an NFL practice squad roster. 

 

College teams would crush these guys. 

 

Its really bad football to watch.

So you mean it's like north american pro soccer versus watching soccer in Europe or South America?

 

People still pack the house to watch that minor league product in the US and Canada...........it's part of their culture/lifestyle and gives them a reason to gather and be a community with a goal.......so they suspend disbelief and enjoy it like it's high end product.

 

The CFL is similar.......but at least there is some real violence and courage needed to play pro football.

 

Plus interestingly enough,  there are a lot of stories of US football stars going up to Canada and faceplanting.

 

One of my favorites examples of that was Vince Ferragamo.........had a SB run with the Rams and a highly productive season with them sandwiched around a ghastly performance in the CFL with Montreal.   On team with a bunch of former NFL "name" players.    One of them was Tom Cousineau,  the Bills  former #1 overall pick in who was poached away from the mercurial Ralph C Wilson and whose rights were later traded to Cleveland for what ended up being the selection the Bills used on Jim Kelly.

Wikipedia lists him as a free agent as of February 2020, after Hamilton declined to re-sign him after the 2019 season.
