 - Both were vaccinated .. so please no covid vaccine talk. They will be able to return to practice after two negative tests.

So I'm curious: since the vaccine doesn't prevent infection and just reduces symptoms/makes it harder to contract, and since vaccinated players face fewer restrictions than unvaccinated players, AND since the NFL has stated that if an unvaccinated player causes an outbreak, it will cause his team to forfeit because the league isn't adding an extra week...what happens if a vaccinated player causes an outbreak? Seems like this could be an actual concern.

Definitely a concern. I saw somewhere that the NFL was going to reevaluate how often they were going to test vaccinated players, it was once a week. They should probably just test everyone everyday to make it even and be extra cautious.

I think prevents is a tricky word.

it substantially reduces risk, even if not eliminating. Clearly the Nfl wants to encourage that reduced risk.

the NFLs issue in this is going to be figuring the tipping point on vaccinated vs unvaccinated to make that serious call on forfeiting a game. If it’s blended and no known source, how do you call it?

Well, that's kinda what I'm worried about. Will unvaccinated guys become convenient fall guys for the NFL even if they follow protocols to a T?

The article you’re quoting said that, based upon Beane’s presser I assume, but while Chris Brown quoted Beane as saying that, I heard him walk that back later in the presser and just say that they have had ~5 Covid infections over the summer and some were vaccinated.

So I don’t think we really know at this point.  Hopefully they were because of the potentially earlier return you note and lower chance of a severe infection with complications.

I would be very surprised if that NFL policy stood without substantial modification.

JC Tretter made it clear that the NFLPA was NOT consulted and did NOT buy in to that policy.

I linked it elsewhere but you can read what he had to say here:

What's up with Jerry's calf? Tweaked during off-season or something from last season I can't remember?

Thought I heard Beane say it was something from off-season training, nothing serious

Correct, just a strain while training.

Ugh, Goodell is really going for the worst commissioner crown. He really has to juice it up to catch Rob Manfred.

I’m sorry for these two guys and although pretty rare, at least these guys did their best to be vaccinated.  I thought Beane said one was symptomatic, and was not to date.

The pressers seemed pretty focused on these guys remaining focused on football which is always a good thing.

He did state that just over 80% of players have at least had the first jab including some that started yesterday and HaplessBillsFans is correct .. he clarified that he was not indicating that Dawkins and Boetgger were or were not vaccinated.
