Where can you get wings like in the old days when your eyes would water

Thanks to this thread I tried Bar Bill yesterday for the first time.  Great wings.  Had the medium wings and they had a nice hot effect where I ate the wing and thought oh not too hot and then the heat came on.  Bet their hot wings are a lovely torture.

There is an Anchor Bar in Frederick Maryland which is close to where I am. Haven’t gone yet but when you alternatives are things like Buffalo Wild Wings and local pizza shops that boil or bread their wings .. it should be a huge step up.

Ok, but this topic / poll is "Best Wings in Buffalo"

Not "Best Wings where you live that has lousy wings"

Anyone who voted Duffs on here has not been to Bar Bill. Those Cajun Honey Butter BBQ wings are the most delicious wings ive ever had in my life and it isnt even close. Everytime I am in Buffalo, we stop at Bar Bill at least once.

As somebody who grew up Working in Buffalo Pizzeria’s… Has a friend who still owns a Pizzeria in the city

I’ve been working on my own honey butter Cajun wings for years… And I finally got tons of people to say they like mine better than Bar bil!

A Buffalo wing in American cuisine is an unbreaded chicken wing section (flat or drumette) that is generally deep-fried and then coated or dipped in a sauce consisting of a vinegar-based cayenne pepper hot sauce and melted butter prior to serving. They are traditionally served hot, along with celery sticks and carrot sticks with blue cheese dressing or, primarily outside of New York, ranch dressing for dipping. Buffalo wings are often called simply "wings", "hot wings", or "chicken wings".

tried to go to BB North last month and the wait was ridiculous...an hour or more...ended up going to Duff's and was disappointed.

Since the Bills got good again, I always anticipate a 60-90 minute wait, minimum, to get into the Bar Bill in EA.  But they let you get drinks at the bar and drink them outside while you wait, so I'm fine with it.

If it was just me or me and my wife, I wouldn't have cared. Unfortunately it was my BIL and SIL from out of town with their two kids and my wife and I with our two kids so an hour wait was never happening haha

Yeah, I get it.  Last year, @Virgilcame by while my girlfriend and I were waiting and he had too many people/kids, too and couldn't wait that long.  A few years back, a bunch of us  @CountryCletus, @Beerball, @BringBackFergy had a party of ten.  We got in after about 90 minutes.  My first time there was probably 2013 and we walked in and got a seat with no wait at all.  Crazy what being good does!!

If/When I ever come back to Buffalo, I'm not going to get wings. I'm going to eat at Chef's every night.

It's the best Italian food I've ever eaten, and I've lived all over the country, including New Jersey.

Just the gravy alone is worth the trip.

Maybe the bar bill cajun stuff is other worldly but I don't get the hype from the medium and hot wings. The sauce has no buffalo flavor just random spices, not what im looking for in a traditional hot wing. I like it to hurt a bit with some of the buffalo tang. Had bar bill a few times and prefer the sauce at basically any other hole in the wall ive walked into in buffalo.

I like Duffs way more than BarBill. But then again, I like traditional Buffalo wings (not garlic parm, honey mustard, etc) and I like them CRAZY HOT, while still having the traditional flavor profile.  BarBills are fine, but not Duffs level, IMO.

Can I ask a related question?  I'm taking my Uncle out to dinner Sunday night, looking for maybe a Sportsbar, near Williamsville or Amherst, good wings are a plus but more important is a decent menu overall and hopefully not a long wait on a Sunday evening (otherwise I probably would have done Bar Bill north.)

Does the Bar Bill North location have a long wait too?

Posted (edited)

Yeah, the north location can also have a wait, although it may not be as long.  We waited early on a Sunday in August (~4pm) for a table for 3 about 30 minutes.

30 minutes isn't bad, but I'm imagining at 6 during football season on a Sunday the wait will probably be longer.

I'd consider the Glenn Park Tavern on Main St in Williamsville.

Though not a sports bar.  So perhaps not your best option.  They will have the game,  however

Which Duff's?

I'd guess going on Monday won't be all that different than most days, although I don't have experience on a game day (of a night game)

Amherst
