Well, look, the thinking at the time of the draft was that Josh Rosen was the guy who was more ready to step into the NFL and play well.  And if Rosen had had a decent team and coach, he could have played well as a rookie, better than Josh Allen, whose fundamentals and mechanics were still not that good.  The most important difference of course is that Allen's ceiling is so high because his athletic talents are so massive, and then he worked his butt off in the offseasons to get better.  Rosen as I recall was independently wealthy and was always likely not to dedicate himself to his craft, and so he didn't get better, and he became an irrelevant afterthought, while Allen is on his way to a HOF career.  Beane drafted Allen and not Rosen because he saw the potential of both men, and he chose wisely.

The most amazing part of the 2017 draft was not that we took the right Josh.  The most amazing part, with 20-20 hindsight is that

Cleveland took Mayfield.

Giants, needing a QB, took a running back.

Jets took Darnold.

Broncos, needing a QB, took a defensive end.

Colts, needing a QB but didn't no it, took a guard.

Leaving Allen for the Bills.

Six picks before the Bills selected, five teams could have taken Allen and didn't.

You may be right.. Lets see if Josh does get paid higher.. time will tell.

He will fairly quickly if he has another year similar to last. For sure if he can lead them to a Super Bowl this time around.

I wanted Rosen in the draft.  But now I realize he would have been a failure anywhere he went.

I was one of the few that didn't care for Rosen. Wasn't my hopeful at the time anyway. I wanted Baker although knew he wouldn't make it to Bills pick. So when the pick was Allen, I was kinda "meh" I guess. And would have felt the same, "meh" if Rosen had turned out to be the pick.

I wasn't big on Lamar either, but did feel slightly better about him than both Josh's. So happy Bills GM/FO know a lot more than I do lol

I have to be honest, I was split. So many Boo Hoo's did not help. I can tell you this though, when they chose Allen, I was 100% behind my QB.

Oh absolutely! No choice but to. For sure I was going to be all in with which ever was to be the pick. We knew it would be 1 of those 4 QB's anyway. Just saying at that time I was highest on Baker, the rest were "meh" to me.

that's where we differ.. When they chose Baker.. I laughed and said Thank god!.. Then when Jets chose Darnold I was like... In todays football I never thought he would be a franchise QB.. though Jets made him worse.

Yeah I agree about Darnold. Yeah majority were wanting Rosen and I just didn't think much of him. Although I will say I didn't expect things to go they way they have for him so far.

I think it was a 50/50 thing.

You know how we all make fun of “ too many threads” about this guy or that subject? Ertz being the latest edition.

You just can’t have too many Josh Allen threads. The videos starts and I’m just mesmerized…..😵😵😵😵

Pinch me. I'm a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan, we jump through tables, "that's why we can't have nice things."

I remember there were rumors the day of the draft that Cleveland was taking Allen 1st overall. I bet there were real discussions to do just that.

So glad they didn’t!

I thought the scuttlebut was they were sold on Baker all the way, with a minority view for Darnold.

I wanted Josh Rosen, but Josh Allen was my second choice, so I wasn't upset with the Bills drafting him at all.

I felt more positive about Allen after his performance in the Senior Bowl. He had work to do to get better, but he looked like a leader.

Watching his play last year was unbelievable, and this video just shows how far he has come. It's not just the ridiculous plays where he can scramble forever and then still hit the open receiver, it's those deep passes he throws with what looks like a simple fling of the ball without much effort.

Look at the touchdown pass to Diggs in the Colts playoff game. It looks like Allen passes with just a flick of the wrist. Mind blowing!

Thanks for the video. If I wasn't already excited for the upcoming season, now I'm beyond impatient. This final week of waiting for training camp to start is going to take forever. GO BILLS!!!

I wasn't quite as high on the QBs from that class as others seem to have been. But I had two stong feelings concerning the top QB prospects:

1. Avoid Rosen completely. Just seemed way too soft and slight for my taste.

2. Avoid Baker early in the 1st round. Too many baked in negatives to risk on that valuable a pick, IMO. It's easier to fix bad footwork or arm motion than to fix a horrible personailty/attitude, as far as I'm concerned/

Bradford seemed like the most NFL ready of the group, but he also concerned me a bit with the turnovers.  I didn't know a lot about Lamar's strengths at the pro level.

Allen was the great unknown to me, shooting up the pre-draft rankings. Just a huge raw talent.  I was happy, but a bit nervous, when the Bills picked him
