Wacka
When I worked at Stanford there was an undergrad that was doing research at our lab and she was on the rowing team (had a scholarship for it). The ream was ranked 6th in the country and we all said, why don'ty you try out for the 1996 olympic team She said no way. She would have to put her life on hold for at least a year and just work on that all the time. Edited July 17, 2021 by Wacka

WhoTom
Very cool! I read the story about her mother being an immigrant/refugee who pioneered the development of mRNA vaccines - I may have even posted it in the Covid thread - but I didn't realize her daughter was an Olympian.
