How many are in a myriad?

A quick review of the first 4 pages of the thread turned up 1 poster who used the word "thug" who subsequently was jumped by several other posters, forcing him to  beg public forgiveness for using the word at all.  Another poster called Sherman a racist.  The rest was: let's not jump to conclusions, he  could be in some trouble with this, Sherman is a very intelligent guy, and stuff about the relevance of SAT scores.....

I might’ve said thug too, but I was busy at the time.

If it were you or me you think we would get jail time for the same offenses? You clearly are clueless about the legals system.

Learn to read, did I write jail time?  I wrote he will get a "slap on the wrist".

Lets see, drunk driving, hit and run, resisting arrest, officer and Sherman minor injuries.,,wont even go into the burglary domestic violence.

Domestic violence is terrible, Guns, but what you referenced above concerning his intelligence and this fall that he is experiencing makes me also think of mental instability and early onset CTE.

There are multiple reasons to be sad about this story, regardless of any prior feelings I might have had against Richard Sherman.

still wouldn’t mind seeing the Bills “help”, if possible.

I mean, sounds like he was drunk and having a family argument. Not sure much more needs to be read into it than that.

There was no real "violence", it is just technically classified as DV.

Call it a real bad day/week.

Two bottles of hard alcohol........that'll turn ANYONE into a raging lunatic, or dead.

Eric Clapton from the '70's thinks Mr. Sherman has a problem.

Agreed. Man I hate it when people bring up CTE anytime a player does something wrong.

She was awful.  Sherman's wife is obviously panicked and the dispatcher was just being condescending....what a (rhymes with bunt).

So,

Sherman gets drunk. Something goes down and he angrily leaves to go confront his in-laws. His girlfriend tries to stop him, fails, and calls the police to say he’s unarmed and suicidal.

He crashes his car into a median (probably because he’s drunk), and then walks the rest of the way to his in-laws. When he gets there he tries to break in and they call the police.

The police arrive and he tries to flee. When that fails he tries to fight them and a dog has to be used to help subdue him.

Or as we call it around here… Friday night.

Vince, I don’t have time to look through every post and I’m casually listening to the news.  I refuse to be a tmz guy so thank you for the summary as I was only getting bits and pieces.

That's kind of what I’m hearing so basically drunk driving is awful and thankfully only his car was damaged.  It makes sense several states don’t allow bail with DV.  They are worried a person will go back for horrible outcomes.

We’ll find out later the details, but sounds like he should’ve made that one more call to a friend or family member to talk him off the ledge.  At least his girlfriend has stuck up for him.  I want to believe the best for him, but if not, it’s going to come out.  Either way the details always comes out eventually.

I hope so, Doc, and it is probably spot on.

However, in this day and age I can't help but go there when athletes get...erratic.

Ok. I’m not going to argue. I appreciate many things you post and this doesn’t contribute to the conversation. Agree to disagree.

He may be depressed with the realization that his career is either over or his options are like a vet min deal with the jets or something. Not easy to deal with, some players do turn to alcohol. I think Thurman went through it.

This 100%.

Players dont need CTE or mental illness to struggle greatly with the transition to the end of their career and out of the league.

Still, no bail is ridiculous.   He has a constitutional right to reasonable bail, and unless there are some really unusual circumstances, he isn't likely to flee the country or go on some rampage killing people.

Personally, I've never liked the guy.  The media made him their darling because he was articulate and funny, but the truth is that what he a loud mouth with an inflated sense of his own importance.   There's a reason he didn't stay in Seattle, and the reason is that he's difficult to deal with.  I mean, if you were running a football team, and you were evaluating just on-field football skill, why wouldn't you want to keep a Richard Sherman?

Still, he shouldn't be in jail.

No bail is definitely weird.

I work at a jail in Texas (just got off shift), and I see bail for allllllll ranges of crimes, misdemeanors and felonies. Domestic Assaults usually start at $1,000 & a Class A misdemeanor, though I have no idea how Washington ranks their charges or what constitutes a felony.

Still, you see people come in for child porn get $20,000 - $70,000 bonds set for them, murderers get $150,000 - $500,000 bonds set for them, so why did he get denied ANY amount whatsoever?

I'm fine with him being arrested & sitting in jail until he's fully processed, but why he wasn't given a chance to bond out is very strange.

Do you think it's because he mentioned suicide and it's a safety precaution to keep him in jail?

It is their state law in regarding domestic disturbances and no bail

This was clarified earlier in the thread. They dont set bail for anything related to Domestic until after they see a judge. So he had to be fully Processed first.
