Brennan Huff Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 Back to back games to Nigeria and Australia. They’re exhibition games but still not a good look https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.espn.com/olympics/story/_/id/31808700/team-usa-falls-0-2-olympic-exhibitions-loss-australia%3fplatform=amp Quote
Brennan Huff Posted July 13, 2021 Author Posted July 13, 2021 First time the men’s team has lost back to back exhibition games since the NBA players started playing in 1992. This team has a significant drop in talent on the bench. The rest of the world has not only caught up, but maybe even surpassed us on the basketball court… Quote

SirAndrew Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 (edited) I’m over watching NBA players in the international game. The original Dream Team was one of my greatest early sports memories, but it no longer holds the same allure. It’s a lose lose situation for pro players these days. If they don’t demolish every opponent, it’s seen as a failure, but losing is the ultimate failure. Victories are the expectation, meaning that gold medals don’t feel like an accomplishment. I found it intriguing to watch superior pro players against inferior opponents with the original Dream Team. Now the gap has closed a bit, but we’re still expected to win. I no longer find it interesting without witnessing the pure dominance. Edited July 13, 2021 by SirAndrew Quote
NoHuddleKelly12 Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 IIRC, Nigeria has something like 8 NBA players on their squad, so not exactly a JV pushover, but Australia? Quote
Buffalo716 Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 (edited) This is not a good look. Idc if they are exhibitions This is an American sport, and it doesn't look like we're going to win a gold Congratulations to Nigeria and Australia Edited July 14, 2021 by Buffalo716 Quote
TBBills Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Not like this matters, all the best players don't play in the Olympics for the US anymore. Olympics are dieing in America... Quote
