On Friday, he said he eliminated the funding because "I don't support giving taxpayer dollars to professional sports stadiums." https://www.cnn.com/2022/06/03/politics/ron-desantis-tampa-bay-rays-gun-violence/index.html I guess the Rays didn't get the Disney memo Timing could be coincidence but the guy obviously really wants to be GOP nominee. Glad he's not governor of New York or we'd pry lose the Bills.

Glad he's not governor of New York or we'd pry lose the Bills. Florida already has a law on the books that limits state money to pro franchises ever since the fraud committed by the Miami Marlins. The line item was written in a way to pretend it was not for the Rays, when it clearly was. We had a similar situation in Orlando with the soccer stadium where they had financing, law passed before it was finalized, and then they did not have state funding. State can do other things but nothing like the $800 million NY is paying
ALF Posted June 15, 2022 Posted June 15, 2022 (edited) Elon Musk votes for Mayra Flores in Texas special election, suggests he likes DeSantis for president Elon Musk also predicted a massive red wave is coming in 2022 first time I ever voted Republican. If a democrat did the same cnn would have read, ‘Florida governor blocks tax gift for billion dollar sports franchise.’ i don’t think they should get all the tax money they do, Bills included. It’s entertainment, they print money and have monopolistic market positions already. 1 2

ALF Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 Yep when people in any country are struggling the political pendulum swings from one extreme to the other to get any change.
ComradeKayAdams Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 Wow…no one here is talking about Joe Rogan’s endorsement of Ron DeSantis? It’s a big deal! Sad to say, but Joe Rogan has a lot of influence over Americans. Maybe enough to play a kingmaker role in the GOP primaries. On 6/21/2022 at 12:34 AM, Big Blitz said: He just gets it... LOL…Ron gets nothing….especially international politics. Gustavo Petro is a run-of-the-mill social democrat who admires Lula and Bernie. He wants to turn Colombia into a Latin American version of a Western European country. He regularly criticizes Hugo Chavez, Nicolas Maduro, and Venezuelan totalitarianism. I’d say that Petro’s victory was a visceral reaction to many decades of failed right-wing Colombian politics and is probably a harbinger of a strong leftward shift throughout Latin America as a whole (if we were to ignore the other harbingers, that is: big leftist victories recently in Mexico, Honduras, Chile, Peru, Argentina, and Bolivia). This specific pendulum swing is only extreme if you think, say, German politics are extreme (er…present-day German politics, that is). Colombian government is so historically entrenched in corruption, however, that I have doubts as to how much Petro can change. Some of his energy infrastructure ideas come across as a bit too idealistic for a country that only allows for a single 4-year presidential term, anyway. Bear in mind that American corporate media will be coming out strongly against Petro because our mainstream media is the mouthpiece for the neoliberal establishment oligarchy. Petro will likely challenge trade ties with the United States that are undoubtedly exploitative in nature toward the Colombian populace.

Which President DeSantis told you is a massive problem. Especially considering the fact that nowhere do successful far left governments exist - unless you count suppressing freedom and capitalism as a success. 1
