Its like those moral victories many used to celebrate on Monday morning during the Bills playoff drought after they played tough but lost to New England by just a field goal. Except in this example the dems are the patriots and were disappointed to only win by 3.
ChiGoose Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 Illinois House passes bill prohibiting book bans Glad I live in a state that respects education and opposes government censorship. Wonder how all the pro-DeSantis people would feel about Hochul deciding what books kids can read in NY…? 2

Wonder how all the pro-DeSantis people would feel about Hochul deciding what books kids can read in NY…? Your question is irrelevant because it is based on a faulty premise. As has already been stated, leftists completed the ideological capture of k-12 education in this country some time ago. Hochul does not "decide" what books kids can read because the very foundations of the educational system are designed to produce the results that people like Hochul want by default. 1 2 2

If your school did not have it why are you fighting for my child to have access to it? 59 minutes ago, ChiGoose said: Illinois House passes bill prohibiting book bans Glad I live in a state that respects education and opposes government censorship. This is gonna fun when a teacher puts a straight up porn book in their class and then sue when they are removed. Why is it Goose that you are so dedicated to children learning where you want to stick your anatomy? 1

My best catch against you is attacking your argument: book banning is bad. porn for kids is bad. the two are not mutually exclusive. but the former could lead to a ban on sexually related material for anyone including adults. And with some arbitrary MAGA deciding what is bad and what is not. A solid catch I think. Not special but solid. Edited March 24, 2023 by redtail hawk

The kama sutra is available at OCLS library, so you are 0 for 1, unless you actually believe that any limitation at a workplace is the same as banning. 1 1

The books were described as banned. So, yes, our definition of that word differs. Edited March 24, 2023 by redtail hawk

Tommy Callahan Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 the troll teacher that got fired for challenging the employers' policies has sour grapes.

Why is it Goose that you are so dedicated to children learning where you want to stick your anatomy? So there are these things, they are called librarians. And what they do is use their specialized training to ensure that there are a variety of books available. As far as I am aware, there hasn’t been a case of a school librarian putting Playboys in the school library. If they did, they would likely be fired. But you know what? The governor of the state wouldn’t be involved in that. In fact, the government itself wouldn’t be involved at all except to the extent that in public schools the principal firing the librarian would be a public employee. It’s odd to me that the party of small government wants to the government take over deciding what kids can read away from the schools. It’s also odd that they just absolutely cannot stop thinking about sex. Like, a book about two penguins raising an adopted baby penguin makes them think it’s teaching kids about sex. Seems like they’re just telling on themselves for their own perverted hang ups. 22 minutes ago, Chris farley said: Again, they seem to be focused on that one book, gender *****. the one with visual aspects that would get one banned from social media for sharing. IS that state going to have The Protocols of the Elders of Zion and other actual banned books now on its shelves? Important distinction: the Dr Seuss situation (like the Roald Dahl one) originated from the owners of the IP, not the government. Nobody told them to edit the books, they were not forced to do it, and they faced criticism for doing it from both the left and the right. If the government was editing and censoring the books, you would have a point here. But they weren’t, so you don’t. 1 1 1
