Cole is right that if he is strictly around immunized individuals, then the risk of him contracting and spreading is low, and it shouldn’t matter much. But, given the current immunization rates, especially among his teammates in the building, the risk of spread among those non-immunized individuals remains and the safety protocols need to be adhered to.

And how will he achieve that?  Ask everyone he meets to show him their Vax card?

There is no proof of natural immunity among the unvaccinated, and in fact those are the vast majority of new Covid cases. And the new Delta variant is more transmissible than previous strains.

See this type of response is what makes me leave my logical/reasoned stance as to why I am not getting vaccinated and sends me to Cole Beasley territory.

This is as ridiculous a statement as I have seen in this entire thread. Just flat out ridiculous, but such is the mentality these days. Again, if you believe the vax keeps you from getting or spreading Covid, and you have been vaccinated, then what does it matter if he's not? He's not here "killing" anyone. That's just dumb.

If Cole walks into a children’s leukemia hospital unvaccinated and gives Covid to 3 kids, and 2 of them die, he didn’t kill those 2 kids? Of course he did.

We’re in the “shaming” stage of the pandemic recovery. The next step is criminal prosecution.

It’s amazing to me that people thought they’d just blend in and not get vaccinated after everything we’ve just gone through as a nation. That was never going to be an option.

Not sure what the question is. Achieve what, exactly? I’m not suggesting Beasley needs to achieve anything.

But you point out the impracticality of ensuring the safety of people co-mingling in close proximity. I think it’s that very impracticality that dictates the need for the safety protocols.

This.

The powers that be state people like, apparently many on our team, can’t even eat with their teammates.   Because an unvaccinated person eating lunch with a vaccinated person will do… what?

Even if they want the performative use of a mask to be around vaccinated people, for zero medical reasoning, fine… I’d just suck it up for my team…. but these league rules are straight up punitive and meant to send a message.

And the message is, 'don't be a ***** dimwit, and go get the damn vaccine- we've got a good thing going here...'

Stupid isn't a point of view.

Unfortunately, I have to agree.

@K-9,I had Covid twice: once last March (untested but just about ALL of the symptoms right after riding on the NYC subways right up through March 13 of 2020) and again in December (positive test), when it was worse (9 straight days of a fever between 101 and 102; loss of sense of taste/smell; physically out of sorts for another month-plus afterward). I have no idea how I got it the second time given that I was very careful (possibly my college-attending son), but the more contagious variant entered NYC in November, so that might explain it. I am fine now and in good health, but my sense of smell (not taste) is screwed up and may be forever changed (we’ll see; https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/15/health/covid-smells-food.html?action=click&module=Well&pgtype=Homepage&section=Health). To be fair, it’s not that big of a deal, but it’s certainly real. Anyway, the idea that you become naturally immune is silly, and I’m frankly tired of the sort of BS he’s spewing. It is utter nonsense. To reiterate, though, I really do love his game.

Ok, so my kids have had 4 kids throughout their elementary and middle school years die from flu related pneumonia when the flu was going around their school. Do we blame the parents who sent their kids to school not feeling well, coughing, snot nosed, or running a fever for giving it to other kids? Do we blame the kids themselves? Are they murderers? Yes, Cole should not be involved in such charity type work at this point in time. But your example is grasping at straws at best.

I’ve certainly let myself get condescending at times in this thread, and will try to do better in defense of my position (and therefore Cole’s) - but it’s pretty clear that one side views themselves as morally superior on this issue and thus any pushback, at all, is worthy of personal insults.

Someone makes an opinion and we got a thread over 50 pages.  If you are worried.  Get the shot.  It's that easy.  It's none of your business if he or anyone else gets it.

I think it’s less about being morally superior and more about two things: a) his position is dumb on its own terms based on what we now know about the vaccines; b) since we all love the Bills and his presence on the team, his position has a chance to hurt the team in a season where they actually have a real chance to win it all.

didn't you make the comment before on this board that people who took the vaccine are, "just taking little scraps that that the government gives them".    don't be hypocritical.
