IMO Cole is a good man.  He is a great Bill and I hope he will be on the team this year and active.

I disagree with his stance but can mostly respect a guy who comes from that place.  But I totally disagree with the histrionic melt down on social media and think it is a mistake.

Except you seem to be (purposely) misunderstanding the situation. No one is saying holding his feet to the fire for not getting vaccinated. They're holding his feet to the fire because he has chosen to be apart of the NFLPA which has set forth rules along with the NFL for people who don't get vaccinated and instead of saying,

"I have concerns about being vaccinated and the restrictions on me because I will not be vaccinated, I will hold firm to my beliefs. I'd like to thank my teammates, the Buffalo Bills and the fans for understanding my decision to retire."

He has decided that everything should be changed to accommodate him and his theories making a distraction that has the potential to sink the Bills legitimate Superbowl aspirations.

When he joined the NFLPA, these rules didn't exist.

“If” and I mean “if”,  it’s what it initially sounds like, the Bills need to move on from Cole ASAP, and get this behind them so it is not a constant distraction for the locker room and FO. Cole is a damn good slot receiver, arguably one of the best in the league, and it would be a shame to lose that talent, but the team has to do what’s right for the team, Cole individually doesn’t come before the team. If Cole leaves, I hope he retires, as it will have a less negative effect on the cap…,

Go Bills!!!

If we cut him outright, we save $4M on the cap this year.

The current CBA didn't exist either... point?

Yeah, but no one in the NFL is forcing vaccination. Beasley wants to have no travel restrictions and no restrictions on having family with him on the road. Those protocols are to limit the chance of Bease from spread the disease to his teammates.

Don't get vaccinated, that's your right. Refuse to take precautions from potentially spreading the pandemic to your teammates, that's selfish.

How do you spread it to teammates that have been vaccinated?

I dont know if Beasley clarified his comments but to me he is acting/speaking/writting more against the added protocols the NFL had this past season (I'm ignoring the vaccination debate)

Remember last Christmas when the video of all the receivers giving their coach a new truck, the receivers broke nfl covid protocol. That is what I believe Beasley is more against and not the basic stuff we all followed (the 6 ft the hand washing the zoom calls etc)

He is literally free to not take the vaccine as long as he follows the protocols. This seems like a fair compromise between personal choice and safety of those involved. The players union (which represents Cole) agreed to these terms with the owners as a means to protect everyone involved as best as possible while not having any mandates for a vaccine to preserve personal choice. If he wants to be a baby and not get vaccinated and not follow the protocols then he is free to retire.

Be a baby and not get vaccinated?

My God.

How is Cole or any player that doesn't get vaccinated "not protecting" anyone else - the other non vaccinated have clearly made a choice and are living life accepting the risks.

The other players and personnel that would like to have near zero risk of getting it are fully vaccinated.

Why does anyone care at this point and how did the NFL and NFLPA think this was the best course of action.

I want to hear logic.  Any freaking logic.

I hope his teammates are OK with what he's doing.  The understanding I and others were left with was that the team wasn't going to get into these discussions.  Yet here we now are.  Granted, the protocols are new and obviously controversial.

What I'm left with at this moment is the hope that Beas hasn't gone contrary to his team's wishes.

Thought it was obvious, but the point is he didn't agree to this, nor did he have a say in its implementation.

how about the ones who aren't vaccinated, but not having a teen girl meltdown over the restrictions they face because of it?

Devils advocate- maybe it is not about the “5 minutes”. Maybe he doesnt want the vaccine. Americans have choices and consider he may just have had enough and ready to move ahead, on his own terms.

He is free to retire, sure.

He is free to remain in the NFL, not get the vaccine, and follow the NFL/NFLPA protocols for unvaccinated players.

He is free to challenge those protocols and try to get them modified.

He doesn't have the choice to remain in the NFL, not get the vaccine, and thumb his nose at the protocols the NFL and NFLPA agreed to as part of their CBA.

If he has a specific problem with the restrictions of having family with him on the road, or other restrictions during his hours away from the facility, he should zero in on that more specifically and drop the distracting commentary about flu, death counts, relative risk, etc. I think he'd find a lot more sympathy if he got very specific about the restrictions that he does not want to abide by. It appears however that he wants zero difference, which is a less reasonable stance in my opinion. And in any case, is not what the NFLPA negotiated. He started out by basically attacking the NFLPA for this and in some respects, that was more on point. Since that time he's off onto why COVID is no big deal and he can't live with restrictions, so ... that's unfortunate.

This is where your very confused. He did have a say. He doesn't like that his say was not the preferred say of the all the member of his union.

But only the FOLLOWING year, after they learnt some humility and how to get along

Actually, it was the same year (‘89). House Ballard’s missed block got Kelly injured and Jimbo went off. Thurman retaliated while Reich went 3-0. The team got their act together enough to win the Division and lost a heartbreaker to Cleveland in the playoffs. But that game ‘created’ the K-Gun. By ‘90, everything was happiness and unicorns.

Much to my surprise, Beasley has been great for the Bills, and I like having him on the team... but high-motor lunch-pail WRs really need to know their role and shut their mouth. If this is how it's going to be, NEXT!
