John from Riverside Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 As long as we understand that he is a mercenary I’m good with it
Virgil Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Honor your deal. You signed it and got the upfront money. 7 1 2 2 2
Freddie's Dead Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Shocking. Character shows, and Stephen Gilmore apparently has none. 2 2
Saxum Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 He does not need the money he will pay in fines. My guess is he shows up week 10 and does his usual loafing in contract year so he does not get hurt "tackling". 3 1
Captain_Quint Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 He should holdout for a trade and take the most money he can get. He's earned it.

TheFunPolice Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Rams about to trade their 2037 and 2038 1st and 2nd round picks, leaving them without a 1st or 2nd until 2039. 1 1 28 2

No. Does any team? No. Why should the player have the same expectation? Did you say the Bills should have honored John Brown's deal instead of cutting him? 6 3 2
Orlando Buffalo Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 I don't care at all. I have no issue with players holding out but I don't think he is in as strong as position as he thinks. 1 2
IgotBILLStopay Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 FWIW, I dont mind giving up a second rounder to the Pats to get him. Would like to see Mahomes throw into White + Gilmore with Hydoyer lurking. 1
maddenboy Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 (edited) PFT said that Gilmore's $7mm this year is really a lot more, but in a re-structure last year they moved (like $4.5mm iirc) from this year to last year, as cashish. "His minicamp plans have been a question because he’s heading into the final year of his contract with a salary of $7 million after the team moved $4.5 million of his base salary into his 2020 compensation and missing all of this week’s work would signal he wants a new deal in New England." So his real compensation for this year is much more than 7. Yeah, $11.5mm might still be below market, but still . . . And makes the argument "you signed the deal, so stop crying" much stronger in this situation. Edited June 14, 2021 by maddenboy

Would like to see Mahomes throw into White + Gilmore with Hydoyer lurking. First, don't give a high pick to an AFCE team, particularly the Pats, for an aging player. Second, Gilmore is looking for more than he's getting from the Pats ($7M). Do you think the Bills have cash available? Third, it isn't the DBs who struggled against Mahomes, it was the LBs trying to stop Kelce. If teams could spend unlimited money on players, sure, I'd love to have Gilmore back for a couple of years, during our SB window. In the real world, it doesn't work. 1
Royale with Cheese Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 If you read this website and BBMB when Gilmore was here....he's not even good enough to be our #2 corner. 3
