B-Man Posted February 25 Posted February 25 The Media Headlines on Dan Bongino's FBI Deputy Director Appointment Were Something Else NYT: Right-Wing Commentator Named F.B.I. Deputy Director BBC: Trump names podcaster Dan Bongino as deputy FBI director WaPo: Trump announces conservative podcaster Dan Bongino as FBI deputy director NPR: What to know about Dan Bongino, the media personality tapped as FBI deputy director Politico: Trump names podcaster Dan Bongino to be second-in-command at FBI While Bongino is indeed all of those things and there is absolutely nothing wrong with any of them, the purpose behind the headlines was to - as they did with Kash Patel - diminish Bongino's qualifications to be the second in charge at the FBI. Though most people reading this know he has extensive Secret Service and law enforcement experience, not everyone out there is familiar with Bongino's background. Because oftentimes people only read social media headlines instead of the full piece (which the press counts on), the idea was to get them to question the wisdom of Bongino being appointed to such an important position with his "only" qualifications (as they tried to portray them) being that he was a popular conservative commentator and was fiercely loyal to Trump. https://redstate.com/sister-toldjah/2025/02/25/media-headlines-on-dan-bonginos-fbi-appointment-n2185988 1

Doc Posted February 26 Posted February 26 It's amazing how many people bought the "stutter" lie to cover for his dementia. Even supposed medical professionals. 1
B-Man Posted March 1 Posted March 1 Don’t mourn the demise of corporate media gatekeepers Claims that changes in the heretofore biased liberal White House press pool herald a police state are nonsense. By Jonathan Tobin It’s just the latest in a long list of freakouts by the liberal inside-the-Beltway establishment about the way the Trump 2.0 administration is shaking up Washington. The decision to change the composition of the White House press pool, however, seems to hit the D.C. elites where it really hurts. For several decades, the White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) has jealously guarded its privilege to determine which outlets get the right to work in the executive mansion and sit in the briefing room when press conferences are held and to be recognized to ask questions. So, it’s hardly surprising that this group—whose complaints are amplified by the hysterical coverage of the issue in the corporate mainstream publications and websites where its members work—is treating this measure as if it is the end of the free press, if not the world. That it is nothing of the kind is only partly why this story says a lot more about the intellectual and moral bankruptcy of the establishment press than it does about the foibles and willingness of President Donald Trump and his team to get even with their antagonists. What is going on here is not just a battle between a new administration clearly spoiling for a fight with a liberal press that is hopelessly biased against Trump and will do anything it can to discredit him. It is also an inflection point in which legacy outlets whose hegemonic dominance of journalism ended long ago are being forced to recognize just that. They are being put on notice that their control of the flow of news at places like the White House will no longer be indulged. What’s more, their glaringly obvious tilt to the left that has grown greater with every passing year, especially since Trump began discomfiting the D.C. uniparty, is also a factor here. It has caused them not just to be challenged by those who disagree with their prejudicial coverage but rendered them essentially irrelevant to a 2024 presidential election, whose discourse was largely conducted via podcasts and niche publications, and not the daily newspapers, broadcast and cable-TV https://www.jns.org/dont-mourn-the-demise-of-corporate-media-gatekeepers/

B-Man Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Media Mulls Dem Civil War: How Can Republicans Pounce? Ed Morrissey Gee, weren't we just getting fed story after story about divisions among Republicans? Didn't the Protection Racket Media have everyone on the edge of their seats talking about the building backlash among the GOP to Elon Musk and Donald Trump? Well, stick around. At some point today, the media will get the Frau Farbissina signal with a new Journolist narrative making the current Democrat civil war all about Republicans. Expect words like "seizing," "pouncing," and especially "overplaying" to get lots of use. Until then, though, enjoy the meltdown on the Left {snip} Anyway, the Democrat meltdown is all over the news today. HuffPo has it, along with an argument that voters would have blamed Republicans for a shutdown. Newsweek's covering it too, although the New York Times appears to be avoiding it thus far (or perhaps just keeping the Dem meltdown off their front page). The Washington Post only notes that "some Democrats bristle" at Schumer's decision. All of this means only one thing. The Journolist signal will soon go up! Frau Farbissina will undoubtedly have a new directive for narrative journalists soon. The only question will be whether that new narrative will be "Republicans overplay their hand," "Democrats goad Republicans into pouncing/seizing," or "Ackshually, Dems always wanted to reduce the size of government." Or hey, collect the whole Protection Racket Media set! https://hotair.com/ed-morrissey/2025/03/14/dem-civil-war-how-can-republicans-pounce-n3800763
