Astounding: The NYT Asks If Hamas Really Has An Obligation to Citizens

FTA:

This is a recipe for a humanitarian crisis created by Hamas. And as that crisis deepens, Hamas will simply let its people die. And despite knowing all this, media and activists and politicians will blame Israel.

In the same New York Times story in which reporters detail Hamas’s hoarding, readers will find one of the most astounding sentences in modern times: “Hamas’s stockpiles raise questions about what responsibility, if any, it has to the civilian population.”

I’m sorry, what? Hamas’s status as the elected government of Gaza may not mean we can assume broad support among the population for the worst of its excesses, but I’m pretty sure it does mean we can assume it is the elected government of Gaza. And that means it has at least some responsibility not to murder everyone in the strip.

The New York Times proving yet again what a joke of a “newspaper” it is.

CNN is pure trash.  Bragging and reporting about the lawsuit in Colorado to keep the orange guy off the ticket.

Goes out of its way to blow past the fact this is a Billionaire funded Partisan PAC suing to keep an American off the ticket based on crimes he has not been convicted of.

while the Left talks about democracy and what not.

Did CNN mention how the judge contributed to the Colorado Turnout Project, a "J6 was an insurrection!" group?

NY Times' Framing of Iran's 'Dilemma' Has People Asking WTF?

The New York Times had a heck of an October when it comes to "journalism."

The paper helped push the lie that Israel killed several hundred people at a Gaza hospital before dialing it back (along with the Associated Press), but the damage was done. The good news for many media outlets that pushed that story is that they don't have any credibility left to lose.

However, at least Iran might approve of the latest headline and subhead from the Times. Here it is:

Reporter Makes Fool of Himself After Writing Op-Ed Claiming MAGA Is Bigger Threat Than Hamas

By Jeff Charles

Asinine op-eds coming from far-leftist publications are nothing new. When a controversial issue arises, you can always count on progressive members of the chattering class to put out opinion pieces chock full of the most sensationally low-IQ takes one could think of.

Such is the case with the current war between Israel and Hamas, which has prompted an outpouring of stupidity on the airwaves and interwebs. Enter columnist Brian Karem, who pens a piece for Salon titled, “MAGA and Christian nationalism: Bigger threat to America than Hamas could ever be.”

Here we go.

In the piece, Karem highlights a White House press briefing in which Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked National Security Council spokesman John Kirby if the Biden administration has “considered the possibility that a terrorist could be in the country right now after crossing the southern border.”

It’s a question that has been on people’s minds even before the war broke out in the Middle East.

{snip}

This article has several flaws, just as with most on the left who think comparing Republicans to the worst of the worst is somehow going to persuade people to vote Democrat.

For starters, Karem deceptively paints Republicans and conservatives with a brush wider than the Grand Canyon. He claims most folks on the right oppose bipartisanship and want to establish a theocracy. Yet, while there might be some fringe individuals who fall into this camp, it is clear that by and large, this is not the case. Perhaps this is why he forgot to mention any quotes or actions from people on the right that would provide evidence to back up this claim.

Next, the author is all over the place. He goes from discussing a press conference in which Kirby talked about potential terrorist attacks in the United States, to opining about artificial intelligence, to ranting about climate change, and then ending on former President Donald Trump’s legal woes. There are no real arguments made.

But what is truly ironic about this article is that the headline claims Republicans and conservatives are more of a threat to the U.S. than Hamas but fails to acknowledge that most of the terrorist group's support from Americans comes from the left. One only has to watch the endless footage of pro-Palestinian rallies being held across the country to see that. Chances are, if there is someone supporting Hamas’ actions against Israel in one of these demonstrations, it’s a white progressive chick screaming like a banshee about how horrible Israel is.

The New York Times announced Friday that a writer for its magazine resigned after violating newsroom policy by signing an open letter that accused Israel of trying to “conduct genocide against the Palestinian people.”  Jazmine Hughes, who joined the paper in 2015 and has won multiple national awards, was one of the most prominent names on a statement published last week by a group called Writers Against the War on Gaza. It accused Israel of targeting journalists and killing thousands of Palestinians since Oct. 7, when the Israeli government declared war on Hamas after the militant group launched a bloody attack from its base in the Gaza Strip that killed at least 1,400 people in Israel and took dozens of hostages. The death toll in Gaza since the war began is approaching 10,000.

“Israel is an apartheid state, designed to privilege Jewish citizens at the expense of Palestinians, heedless of the many Jewish people, both in Israel and across the diaspora, who oppose their own conscription in an ethno-nationalist project,” read the statement, which specifically criticized a New York Times editorial that offered qualified support of Israeli reprisal attacks while imploring the country to protect Palestinian civilians.

“While I respect that she has strong convictions, this was a clear violation of The Times’s policy on public protest,” magazine editor Jake Silverstein wrote in an email to staff Friday evening. “This policy, which I fully support, is an important part of our commitment to independence.”
