NewEra Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 Worked well for us last year. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it. 2 7
Rochesterfan Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 Not surprising with the leagues COVID protocols.
Charles Romes Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 Most teams have abandoned off-site training camps and you are looking out of step to free agents if you go off site these days IMO. The traditional training camp was invented to get the guys in shape after a long off season where the players would work regular jobs. Now everyone in the league (except Dawkins) works out 365 days a year to stay in the league. 3 3

I love the teambuilding aspect, but we have seen the Bills build a great team atmosphere and build an incredible training facility. With the team in such a good place as a group, it just makes sense to put them where they can train the best and that is OBD. Edited June 7, 2021 by MiltonWaddams 2 2
YoloinOhio Posted June 7, 2021 Author Posted June 7, 2021 While there are many awesome things about TC @ SJF, I’m pretty sure the majority of players and coaches are thrilled about this
cd1 Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 Sad - it was a great place to take the kids and get to see the team up close. I am so disappointed... 2 5
msw2112 Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 It will be interesting to see if this is a temporary COVID-related move, or if it turns out to be a permanent decision.
GunnerBill Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 Cynic in me says OBD makes trying to continue hiding the vaccine issue easier than being out among fans at SJF. 2 2 4 1
JoPoy88 Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 The training facilities at the stadium are so much better now after the recent renovations. Harder to justify leaving for camp now. 3 7 1

TroutDog Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 If you’ve never been to camp at SJF, it was absolutely fantastic: ability to see the players work up close and personal, see the interactions, watching the improvement over the course of TC. Living in ROC, this is a real bummer to me but I understand it. 5
TheBeaneBandit Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 I know it's great to see the practices and all, but the facilities at OBD are great for recovery, etc.... I am glad training camp is staying at OBD for a healthier and more injury free roster. 1 3
Supe Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 The Bills could develop camaraderie by providing mandatory or optional housing at the Marriott at Harbourcenter. An Arena Football League surface for workouts could be placed over the rinks at Harbourcenter and/or Key Bank Center. I’m sure the Pegulas could get a discount. Players and staff could drive, limo or bus back and forth to the Orchard Park facilities as needed.
HappyDays Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 I have thought for a while now that McDermott will slowly phase out fan attendance at training camp. It creates a competitive disadvantage if our opponents can read/watch fan articles and videos. As it is the media only has access to 1 out of every 3 practices and they can't report on certain things. They can't force fans to avoid reporting those things. I enjoy going to training camp once a year but the bottom line is making it easier to win games. 1 1
