Probably will be Power (even though he's a LHD like Dahlin), Beniers (center) is a close 2nd, followed by Eklund (LW), Hughes (D) and Clarke (D). If we trade Eichel I could see us drafting Beniers.

Going with Eklund, name sounds cool so that should work, cant do any worse.

Finally , now if they could figure out how to win.

Couldn't be worse, maybe the bills scouting department can show them how its done.

Well maybe if Kim didn't fire em all that wouldn't be needed.

Just listened to Kevyn Adams national presser about winning the draft lottery on WGR.....

.....saying he was a yawn would be a compliment. This guy doesn't inspire.

Wonder if he got the GM job because he was the only one who applied?

There isn’t a franchise changing player miles ahead of everyone else this year.

His demeanor kinda reminds of Beane.

I think they should let Beane and McDermott pick the next coach and GM.

All they need to do is hire a President of Hockey Ops above the GM. And keep their hands off the team. But that apparently cannot happen with them. Scary

I think its more they know the Bills are in good hands + making a huuuuuge profit.  The Sabres are now a loss to the accountants and a public embarrassment. Kim came out last year saying they had to make changes to "keep up their current lifestyle " or something silly like that. It was pretty bad. They fired half of the Sabres scouts and hired a dude who was teaching 12 year olds, who was a journeyman in the NHL, to be GM. Its bad

wow thats crazy, how much lifestyle do you need, everything gets boring after awhile even with a ton of money. What they should be is passionate about winning which makes up for "lifestyle" .

if that's the case then they NEED to sell the team.

I will stick up for the Pegulas til the end for keeping the Bills in Buffalo. Still love them. But what they are doing to the Sabres is very sad

Terry Pegula was a hockey fan.   He thought or still thinks he knew hockey well enough to run a hockey team well.    He was not a big football fan........despite living in Orchard Park for many years, including the SB years, the first Bills home game he attended in person was AFTER he bought the team.   So not being as comfortable with football he was likely more inclined to hand the keys over to McDermott after his first hiring ended up as a high profile moment of embarrassment for the family.

The Pegulas numerous swing and miss inept hires to right the Sabres defies the law of averages.

They are well intended owners, but, man.....this team is a mess and getting worse than imaginable.

The head scratching hire of a soccer guy as head coach, then fired by a local born, so-so former NHL player at best, whose highest resume' qualifier was overseeing the Pegulas Jr. Sabres youth hockey program, then annointed Sabres GM, is beyond bizzare and befuddling.

That said, Eichel isn't an innocent bystander in this fiasco, imo.

Hockey is a different monster all together. Honestly how hockey runs itself I am surprised it's still even a major sport.

The Pegula's have a habit or nicety about them of retaining whomever they inherit for their franchises.  They then give those execs rope to hang themselves.

Thing about the Sabres is they were Terry's toy until the losses started financially and people started getting fired or quit.  As things got worse, they began taking more control and the results spiraled downward culminating in the Nix-esque hire of Kevyn Adams as GM.

Retaining Whaley and hiring Rex obviously were bad moves for T/K Pegs.  They got it right the second go-round, but I've heard (take it FWIW) their delegating of responsibility to McD and Beane comes with a little regret.  Because billionaire types aren't about to hand over keys to the car easily.  And that's what fans don't understand about these franchises...they're businesses to ownership.  They can play up being fans all they want, but if the team doesn't make money they want control.  Fortunately, NFL franchises get 250-300M every year in TV/revenue sharing.  But if McBeane suddenly weren't doing as well, they might make moves.

Needs to hand over the keys to the hockey team as well.

How is Eichel at fault.

If it ran itself then they should be a lot better.

While this draft doesnt have the top-end franchise game-changer (at this point as 17-18 year olds)...  it is never a bad thing to get to pick 1st out of everyone.

The only real downside is the new NHL rule that a team can't pick #1 overall more than twice in a 5 year period.    So even if they finish dead last again the next 4 seasons they can only qualify for #1 overall one more time.

If they deal the pick then does the rule not apply? Or can they not even be eligible to win the lottery again regardless of where they end up picking?
