a. Bears are still in deep salary cap hell for the 2021 season making it unlikely they can improve significantly this offseason.

b. They just drafted a rookie QB and should be in rebuild mode.

c. Going into full rebuild is the only way Nagy can really save his job since they are unlikely to make the postseason with a rookie QB.

d. Khalil Mack is rumored to be trying to sell his house!!

e. After the Diggs restructure, Bills can easily absorb Mack's reasonable remaining salary by a further restructure and offering a couple of 2022 picks or trading Jerry Hughes and a conditional future first

f. Post June, it appears Bears can absorb Mack's dead cap (they have over 45 mill in 2022 cap space and a rookie QB).

This can be the move that puts the Bills defense over the top.

Flame Away!!

Edit: More than just a rumor. Ha!

Serious (ok lol not serious) question

Would splashing out and adding Ertz & Mack be the smart move?  I'm not nuts about mortgaging the future by trading picks or making a mess of the cap unless the pieces you're adding can make a substantial and immediate difference.  Im a huge Mack fan, fairly indifferent to Ertz, but don't feel like even together they're going to make the sort of difference their cost would justify

His re-structured contract is basically untradable for the Bears.  $38m in dead cap... even spread over 2 years is insane.  Acquiring team would only have $2m cap hit for Mack in 2021.  Not happening.

The Bears won’t get rid of him. The only way they trade him away is if they knew they were going to be in rebuild mode and were tanking the 21 season for a high pick. Mack is going to stay a Bear for atleast 2 more years

Signed thru 2024 season.

still producing well.

depending on compensation package, I’d say go for it.

Just like Rebound said. His contract restructure he did for Chicago makes him untradable. So unless Chicago has a really bad season/ in rebuild mode, then he’s staying a Bear for at least 2 more years
