Blacks were not afforded the opportunities until the past 50 years. If you believe that is the content and purpose of CRT you are more ignorant than I thought.

But race was critical to that system in place at the time, correct?

What’s all this about now? They didn’t cover the civil rights movement when you were in junior high… yesterday? What did your teachers tell you that those black people were ‘moving’ towards?  My gosh, stop doodling in the back of your notebook and pay attention.

Is that all you think CRT is trying to teach? Please tell me what you think the main point of  CRT means?

Tell me! And give me proof, and not some lying right wing crazy link.

Why can't you just admit you are happy to ignorant? You have seen the stuff from the NEA but I will give it to again. Why this is so appalling is that the NEA is pushing the 1619 project as history, and the creator of 1619 has admitted it is a narrative. This is from the NEA resolution passed this summer:

Provide an already-created, in-depth, study that critiques empire, white supremacy, anti-Blackness, anti-Indigeneity, racism, patriarchy, cisheteropatriarchy, capitalism, ableism, anthropocentrism, and other forms of power and oppression at the intersections of our society, and that we oppose attempts to ban critical race theory and/or The 1619 Project.

History can be told as a narrative, and it usually is. That’s normal.

What is it you you don’t want taught? I have chatted with many conservative here who won’t even admit the Civil War was started by racist for racists. Are you ok with the Civil War being taught with racism as a central theme? It’s just a truthful narrative.

History is a set of facts based on what really happened, a good teacher takes facts and presents those facts in an interesting way which a narrative can be part of it. Teaching a narrative as history means you sacrifice the truth for the desired meaning. History is not always nice and good but it still needs to be fact based

Just seems to me the same people that want to deny racism are the ones shrieking about it being taught about. The same people that said slavery was not THE cause of the civil war, and want the racist heroes of the past up on statues are the ones complaining about CRT.

Its really the same thing. Racism has always been used for political gain by Conservatives. Same thing now with CRT. It’s a political thing here.

The fact that you think CRT is a political thing means you are a political person primarily. CRT only works if start with the premise and then twist every around it, while history should be look at the facts and find the narrative.

The end of Critical Race Theory

By Gamaliel Isaac

Critical Race Theory is liable to end for reasons very similar to the reasons the Salem witch trials ended.

{snip}

Opposition to the trials grew as the family and friends of more and more villagers were accused of witchcraft, including the wife of Governor William Phips.  Governor Phips saved his wife by dissolving the Court of Oyer and Terminer and moving all trials to a higher court. This superior court did not allow “spectral evidence” and, since most of the earlier accused witches had been executed due to this evidence, any remaining witches were all ruled innocent.

The tide is turning against Critical Race Theory as those who endorse it become its victims.  Most teachers and staff of New York schools went along with the CRT craze, because they were afraid they would lose their jobs if they spoke out against it.  In fact even George Davison, the headmaster of New York’s Grace Church school that teaches CRT did not dare admit that he had said in a private conversation with Paul Rossi, a teacher at his school, that “we're demonizing kids, we're demonizing white people for being born.”  Instead, Davison accused Rossi of misquoting him.  Rossi released an audio recording proving his account was accurate after which Mr. Davison, perhaps with some persuasion from his school, decided to retire.

As is well known, revolutions eat their early supporters.  Appeasing the CRT crusaders may protect the jobs of teachers and staff in the short term, but in the long term, CRT will destroy them.  That is because the goal of the CRT crusaders is equity and achieving equity requires that the jobs whites have be transferred to people of color.

Teachers in the New York High School of Public Service experienced this directly after principal Paula Lev said she was going to get rid of white teachers and fired one of them.  According to the New York Post, the teachers had overwhelmingly supported anti-racism and equity.  These same teachers became its predictable victims.  Prior to this the faculty had no problem teaching Critical Race Theory and dividing the school by race.  Belatedly according to the Post, the faculty is rebelling, charging in a vote of no-confidence that Lev has “flagrantly but unsuccessfully attempted to divide our school by race.”

As more and more white workers find that their allegiance to equity and anti-racism is no protection, the day grows closer to when Critical Race Theory will go the way of the Salem Witch Trials.  The best way to hasten that day is for maximum publicity to be accorded the fate of those who appease the CRT revolution in vain.

Conservatives actually love critical race theory -- when they turn the subject to 'oppressed' White people

https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/12/us/critical-race-theory-white-hypocrisy-blake/index.html

If you're trying to figure out why so many conservatives despise critical race theory, here's some historical context you should remember:

White conservatives oppose critical race theory -- only when it's applied to Black people.

But many have no problem adopting some of CRT's language and core insights when complaining that contemporary America discriminates against White people.

This is the audacious double standard that's often overlooked in the current debate over critical race theory. Many White conservatives roll their eyes when Black people claim that systemic racism exists, that racism is baked into the nation's policies and legal system, and that it can't be reduced to individual prejudice -- all key CRT concepts.

Yet White conservatives have steadily built a legal and political movement that claims White people are the primary victims of covert forms of racism embedded in American institutions such as religion, education, and throughout popular culture...

[W]hile overt, ugly acts of bigotry attract the most attention, the most potent component of racism is "positioning the bigot as the actual victim."

"So the gay do not simply want to marry, they want to convert our children into sin... The Jews do not merely want to be left in peace, they actually are plotting world take-over. And the blacks are not actually victims of American power, but beneficiaries of the war against hard-working whites. This is a respectable, more sensible, bigotry, one that does not seek to name-call, preferring instead 'to' change the subject and strawman."

COLORADO: parents aren’t being paranoid, their kids are learning Critical Race Theory.

The Denver Post and other mainstream media outlets are on a quest to convince readers that educators are just teaching honest American history.

Chief gaslighter and University of Colorado ethnic studies professor Jennifer Ho explains:

“Saying you want to ban teaching critical race theory in K-12 is saying you want to ban electrical engineering in K-12,” she said. “… Yes, students may be learning about electricity, but that’s very different from saying that your seventh-grade science teacher is teaching electrical engineering.”

See the difference? Students are not being taught Critical Race Theory, they’re just learning that all whites are oppressors and all minorities are victims doomed to failure.

Even worse than lying to us, Ho treats parents like idiots.

The Onion’s Guide To Critical Race Theory

A mounting effort by some Republican lawmakers to ban the teaching of critical race theory in U.S. schools has prompted debate about what it is and its place in American education. The Onion answers the most common questions about critical race theory and the debate surrounding its teaching.

Q: What is critical race theory?
A: An academic concept that racism is a social construct embedded into legal systems, government policies, and in-laws.

Q: Should critical race theory be taught in our schools?
A: Not unless we’re aiming for fewer white supremacists.

Q: Won’t teaching it just make other kids hate my white children?
A: Your kids are already insufferable and widely despised.

Q: Why do some people condemn critical race theory?
A: Misplaced sexual frustrations.

Andrew Sullivan: CRT is a revolution against liberalism and that's what people are rejecting

By John Sexton

FTA:

Take a big step back. Observe what has happened in our discourse since around 2015. Forget CRT for a moment and ask yourself: is nothing going on here but Republican propaganda and guile? Can you not see that the Republicans may be acting, but they are also reacting — reacting against something that is right in front of our noses?

What is it? It is, I’d argue, the sudden, rapid, stunning shift in the belief system of the American elites. It has sent the whole society into a profound cultural dislocation. It is, in essence, an ongoing moral panic against the specter of “white supremacy,” which is now bizarrely regarded as an accurate description of the largest, freest, most successful multiracial democracy in human history.

We all know it’s happened. The elites, increasingly sequestered within one political party and one media monoculture, educated by colleges and private schools that have become hermetically sealed against any non-left dissent, have had a “social justice reckoning” these past few years. And they have been ideologically transformed, with countless cascading consequences.

So what is this new ideology that has transformed the elites and is currently transforming everything else (or at least trying to)? Sullivan admits that CRT isn’t the perfect moniker primarily because it’s far too narrow and limited in ambition. He says the best name for it he’s heard is one suggested by writer Wesley Yang who calls it “the successor ideology.” That name fits because it captures what it is that the ideology seeks to do: “to repeal and succeed a liberal society and democracy.” If you’re looking for a very brief explanation for why CRT and cancel culture come as a package, I think that’s it.

And that tells you about the will to power behind it. Liberalism leaves you alone. The successor ideology will never let go of you. Liberalism is only concerned with your actions. The successor ideology is concerned with your mind, your psyche, and the deepest recesses of your soul. Liberalism will let you do your job, and let you keep your politics private. S.I. will force you into a struggle session as a condition for employment.

And the desire to undermine and demolish the liberal order reaches into every part of society. Conservatives have been fighting 10 different battles to keep elements of it at bay over the last few years but it’s really all coming from one place.

Look how far the left’s war on liberalism has gone.

Due process? If you’re a male on campus, gone.

Privacy? Stripped away — by anonymous rape accusations, exposure of private emails, violence against people’s private homes, screaming at folks in restaurants, sordid exposés of sexual encounters, eagerly published by woke mags.

Non-violence? Exceptions are available if you want to “punch a fascist.”

Free speech? Only if you don’t mind being fired and ostracized as a righteous consequence.

Free association? You’ve got to be kidding.

Religious freedom? Illegitimate bigotry. Equality? Only group equity counts now, and individuals of the wrong identity can and must be discriminated against.

Color-blindness? Another word for racism.

Mercy? Not for oppressors.

Intent? Irrelevant.

Objectivity? A racist lie. Science? A manifestation of white supremacy.

Biological sex? Replaced by socially constructed gender so that women have penises and men have periods.

The rule of law? Not for migrants or looters.

Borders? Racist.

Viewpoint diversity? A form of violence against the oppressed…

We are going through the greatest radicalization of the elites since the 1960s. This isn’t coming from the ground up. It’s being imposed ruthlessly from above, marshaled with a fusillade of constant MSM propaganda, and its victims are often the poor and the black and the brown. It nearly lost the Democrats the last election.

That’s extremely well put. As someone on the far-left might say, I feel seen. The left abandons civility, guardrails against political violence, Martin Luther King Jr.’s color-blind dream, the concept of biological sex, the existence of police and the border patrol, etc. and the media shows up to write stories about the right lumping things together under the rubric of CRT as if that’s where partisan extremism has finally appeared on the horizon.

The right really has moved to the right but it’s the left’s rapid lurch to the left, the revolution against liberalism, that is responsible for most of the current battles in the culture war. If the media weren’t a wholly-owned subsidiary of progressive elitism there wouldn’t even be much of an argument about this. As Kevin Drum said, “progressives have been bragging publicly about pushing the Democratic Party leftward since at least 2004—and they’ve succeeded.” We’re living through the outcome.
