BuffaloBill Posted June 2, 2021 Posted June 2, 2021 Huge legacy .... would be hard to follow in those shoes. 1 Quote
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower Posted June 2, 2021 Posted June 2, 2021 Now, If we could only get Boeheim to leave after this season and replace him with a younger model I'd be pleased. Quote
eball Posted June 2, 2021 Posted June 2, 2021 The old man was slipping. Apparently another pasty-faced Dookie will be replacing him...Jon Scheyer. 2 Quote
Back2Buff Posted June 2, 2021 Posted June 2, 2021 About time. These old guys just can't keep up. CBB is a different world. It's literally all about recruiting for one year. I can see why Scheyer would be next in line, he has been the main recruiter for Duke. Quote

Yea but he's the main recruiter for kids to play UNDER Coach K.. not head coach Jon scheyer Duke is absolutely going to take a step back 1 Quote

H2o Posted June 2, 2021 Posted June 2, 2021 It's time. You could see him fading over the last few years. There is no way in Hades Coach K from the early 2000's doesn't get a banner with Zion, Barrett, Reddish, and Jones. 1 hour ago, The Jokeman said: I wonder if they'd call Bobby Hurley to replace him. I think the consensus right now is that Scheyer will be taking the reigns. Quote

He set the bar pretty high for whining about every little call to have his way with the refs! That will be tough to live up to! 1 Quote

That brand will still be there, meaning the top facilities, most national exposure, connections. good conference, etc. Not sure who would want to play under K's coaching recently. These players went there for the exposure they receive at being at a school that gets the most televised games. Quote

YoloinOhio Posted June 3, 2021 Author Posted June 3, 2021 Sounds like Scheyer has been named the Coach in Waiting I wish he would just go now or have waited until toward the end of the season to announce. Now it’s going to be one giant nauseating farewell tour all season on ESPNs coverage Quote

Lots of traditional power houses are not winning national championships and it doesn't change anything. The hate will always be there that people will tune into. Quote

Coach K is one of the best that's ever done it Even on a bad day he's better than 95% of coaches. They're absolutely going to take a hit for a bit Duke is absolutely going to take a step backwards. Does it mean they're going to be irrelevant? No .. but even Alabama took years to find her footing after Bear Bryant left Coach K is Duke. The brand will not be the same I'm not saying they're going to be trash either. I'm just saying they're not going to be perennial top 10 Edited June 3, 2021 by Buffalo716 Quote

The hate dies down, as does the exposure, the less winning that occurs. Quote
