Gugny
There are no American men in the ATP's top 30 for the first time in the nearly half-century of computerized tennis rankings. The highest-ranked man from the U.S., Taylor Fritz, slid one place to No. 31 on Monday after a first-round loss at last week's Madrid Masters. Next is John Isner, who made it to the quarterfinals on the red clay in Spain and rose five spots to No. 34. https://www.espn.com/tennis/story/_/id/31421430/no-american-men-top-30-1st-computer-tennis-rankings
UConn James
Kind of a bummer to see this, but tennis isn’t a big sport for boys here. Isner is basically just a serve-bot and that can only take you so far. Women’s WTA has always been better with US representation, with Osaka, Serena still hanging on, Kenin, Jen Brady breaking in, and our very own owners’ daughter Jessie Pegula. Women’s tennis is VERY much more mercurial, tho, and I think that hurts it. Few big stars with staying power.

I just remember past decades (beginning with the late 70s for me) ALWAYS having at least a handful of great American players. Andy Roddick was the last top ranked player and that was in 2003. That's insane to me. I get that we're not churning out top ranked players ... totally understandable. But when Taylor Fritz and John ***** Isner are your best players? That's pathetic.
